I've had it for over 15 years, at this point it feels like I always have shoes on. It started in my toes and worked up my legs, the last time tested, apparently it is starting to affect my hands as well. All my docs say there isn't much that can be done. It does burn and has pain now and then, it is very difficult not to wear shoes and even small things are very painful when stepped on. I have trouble walking on grass but no trouble on smooth, hard surfaces. At 75 I'm just living with it.

Dave, I too feel like I am wearing shoes, I sometime look down at my feet to see if I have shoes on and I question my sanity.

Investigate IV Infusion therapy, specifically vitamin B12, in your area. Google "Meyers Cocktail" for a starting place.

ShelbyDave, I will definitely give that a try. I truly believe in treating with herbs and things other than prescription meds.

Thanks for responding.

You are welcome, hope it helps and good luck.

I've had pedal neuropathy for several months now. Doc can't say if it's caused by prediabetes or cancer med.
If you have had experience with this ailment what did doc do.
Thanks

As a retired pain physician I have seen a lot of neuropathy and there are many causes some of which you mentioned. The best advice is to find a neurologist that does electrodiagnostic studies and determine exactly what specific type of neuropathy you have then target your therapy to the diagnosis. If the diagnosis cannot be determined or if it is a mixed neuropathy you can use recommended treatments. If you don't know the cause you will never be able to treat effectively.

Scott, I will definitely check with my doc to see if a neurologist is available on my plan. (Kaiser Senior Care Advantage)
Thank you very much for your response and advice.

Mine has been diagnosed as "Idiopathic Neuropathy" which I'm told means they don't know the cause. As a result I guess there's no specific way to treat it?

I would venture a guess that to get the right doctor/neurologist that has an interest in and the skills to make the diagnosis that you will need to go outside of the Kaiser system. I believe this because I was a Kaiser physician in the past. Good luck

quagmire,
So sorry to hear that. Was that because of neuropathy or diabetes or a combination of both? Did your doc prescribe anything.
Thanks for your response
