I had a back operation for spinal stenosis a few years and it left me with neuropathy in both legs, my right leg took the worse hit, I take gabapentin for it, helps a little.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's exactly why I told my doctor surgery is off the table as a possible cure for my stenosis
I have a friend that swears by therapeutic laser. His symptoms felt like walking on tacks. Best of luck.

If you have had experience with this ailment what did doc do.
Thanks
I have lived with quad peripheral neuropathy and nerve pain for almost 30 years. Mine was caused by severe compression damage to my cervical spinal cord caused by a tumor and cyst on the cord. Nothing is known to completely rid me of the neuropathy and nerve pain. Gabapentin plus Mexiletine dulls the pain enough to make it semi-bearable. The doctors at the Stanford University Pain Clinic tried everything known or rumored to help with this condition. After 8 months of trying, that combination was the best they could do.
I asked my doctor and pharmacist and the only suggestion was Gabapentin which didn't help until I took three at night, but then I was groggy all day. So I did some research online and decided to try a supplement. Bought it from Amazon. If you read the reviews it works for some but not all. I tried it and it did help, but not completely alleviate the tingling all the time. It did help enough that most nights I can sleep again. If you're interested it is: Nerve Support Formula for The Nutritional Support of Neuropathy and Nerve Pain Relief. 120 Capsules. Copy and paste on Amazon. You can also read hundreds of reviews to get a sense of whether or not you want to try it. Good luck.

Mr Spock, in my case an operation was completely necessary, it crippled me, I could not walk, my right leg was wrapping around my left leg, the pain was great. The doctor warned me about all the possible outcomes which
included death. Even though I am now disabled, at least I can walk a little and use a wheelchair when I go anywhere, even though there is pain, it isn't nothing compared to what it was before the operation. I can deal with it.
I've had it for over 15 years, at this point it feels like I always have shoes on. It started in my toes and worked up my legs, the last time tested, apparently it is starting to affect my hands as well. All my docs say there isn't much that can be done. It does burn and has pain now and then, it is very difficult not to wear shoes and even small things are very painful when stepped on. I have trouble walking on grass but no trouble on smooth, hard surfaces. At 75 I'm just living with it.

I had peripheral neuropathy(numbness) in my feet and up to my knees and also in my hands. I could not close my right hand for pain. Then someone told me to drink a glass of water with one tablespoon full of apple cider vinegar every morning. IT WORKS!!! I now have no pain in my hands and only a slight tinge of numbness in my feet sometimes. My 75 year old son also takes it and is very happy with the results.

+1 for Gabapentin. I got Neuropathy from chemo as well... specifically the Oxaliplatin. I've tried a few things but Gabapentin seems to do best. It does not get rid of it, but helps me manage it.

Chek about a trial treatment with laser therapy to see how your neuropathy responds. MD's, DC's and DPM's do the therapy.

Vitamin B12 supplements may help.
For me, B6 and12 made it much worst. B1 made it better.

Mine was caused by radiation treatments for rectal cancer, 22 years ago, legs a feet are numb and can get hammering pain in the feet.
The 400mg of Pregabalin I take per day usually keeps the pain under control. The Gabapentin was not working for me even with 800mg per day.
