I have neuropathy (just numbness in both feet) I had sharp pain and severe itching deep in my feet after lots of reading I had my Dr. order blood work to find out my B6 and B12 levels I eat lots of green veg and I was taking a daily multi vit. and extra B vit to help me sleep, I overdosed with vit. B. I stopped taking the milti vit. and the extra B 12 and 6 and I started taking B1 that can help repair nerve damage. I still have some issues with sleep. and I still have numbness in my feet but NO PAIN, STINGING, OR ITCHING.

I too have pedal neuropathy. I have been told there is no real cure for it, but different meds do help. I found that I was allergic to Gabapentin, (causes me to itch all over.) I also have COPD, which does not help, and, I had surgery on L4 and L5. I'm a mess!!!!! LOL. Still in all, I am on this side of the grass, so keep a positive attitude. Do not take any meds before talking to your MD.

Vitamin B12 supplements may help.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is produced in the body naturally. Adding more through supplementing is usually not a problem. By all means check with a doctor.

I took the Alpha Lipoic Acid for several years for peripheral neuropathy. (Legs and feet) Didn’t help at all. I have had it now for 10 years or more.

I've had pedal neuropathy for several months now. Doc can't say if it's caused by prediabetes or cancer med.
If you have had experience with this ailment what did doc do.
Thanks

My left arm and lower part of the hand with severe neuropathy....woke up after major surgery a year or so back and woke up with my left hand was totally numb, many times it feels like I can't even close it, so stiff, but it works. Can't use a heavy camera/lens for any length of time, period. Orthopedist, arm specialist, operated and found my ulna nerve just flopping around inside the arm. Dr replaced the nerve back in a fatty/muscular part of the elbow/forearm, but no matter, after rehab, its still numb, stiff, though not nearly as bad but I expect it to be that way for the rest of my life. I have some neuropathy on the outside of the right foot caused by spinal injuries in a crash I had in Nam, not nearly as bad as the arm though. Just going to live with it...Outside of surgery, not sure what can be done...Good Luck

I have had neuropathy for around 4 years due to chemo. I recently found a place in Memphis called Wellness One. They offer a treatment using vitamin injections and electrical stimulation to reactivate large and small fiber nerves.
I have been going for 2 treatments a week around 3 weeks. (average treatments last 5-8 weeks) FDA approved. So far I am optimistic and things seem to be working. Check it out there may be a location near you. Good luck!

Gapapentin, by prescription, works for me—somewhat. Cannabis is recommended by some. A 12 year old single malt scotch—never mind.

I agree with all your suggested treatments. Have been taking Gabapentin for several years with limited success.
12 year old scotch for many, many years and just paid a visit to the cannabis store last week. My doctor told me my Neurapathy is "idiopathic" which means they don't have a clue as to where it came from.
Good luck to you

Gabapentin for me, I sometimes think it doesn’t help until I miss a dose, get a reminder that it indeed does. Anyone here tried Lyrica? My Doctor says to try it, for some it brings better relief. Can always go back to Gabapentin.

Got the neuropathy from chemo, here. Expressed itself as 'dropfoot', starting about 10 weeks after the chemo ended (and then on a regime of immunotherapy for my NSCLC).

The 'dropfoot' was mitigated by simple devices (a plastic piece that went in my shoe like an insole, and secured to and surrounded my calf up to about halfway) administered to me by a Physical Therapy consult. I wore them for close to a year, building back the muscle control in my feet/ankle/calf combo.

I haven't used them for about three years now as the neuropathy is about 90% gone. If I get overtired, it will *sometimes* bother me only a little for a couple of days.

Incidentally, if you are lucky enough and the oncologist recommends immunotherapy - take it!

Any chemo- or immunotherapy regime is going to likely cause some sort of other reaction. They are damned powerful drugs. I got the neuropathy and some reaction from immunotherapy (RA in hands) and now both are mostly gone.

But, here is my point: my rheumatologist told me something like "There is some evidence that a strong reaction to (cancer fighting) drugs is a good indication that (they) are doing, have done, their job well, and that those that have the reactions have a higher long-term survival rate."

I'll take it!

I tried Lyrica for several months. Didn't really see any difference except one:
Gabapentin cost me about $4.00 a month with insurance
Lyrica cost $46.00 a month!

Been four years now, three years no treatments, and the last CAT scan (March) looked good. The lung surgeon thinks he got it all (1/3 of my left lung) and my PSA is still in the basement. Memories of that year are subsiding.
Next up, I have the starts of COPD........

The treatment may be nasty, but if they catch it early enough, it's worth it. (I say now.)

I've been taking Xtandi and getting Lupron shots every six month to lower the PSA and testosterone levels. Xtandi makes me very weak and constantly tired. Lupron gives flu like symptoms for several days. I've stopped the Xtandi in hopes of getting stronger for upcoming hip replacement. Will see what next blood tests look like.
Thanks for your input, Longshadow.

I have had neuropathy in both feet and one leg for years. From diabetes type 2 and as a result of some back surgery. I now take 1800 mg of Gabapentin and 60 mg of Duloxetine. There is no question, it works. If I miss a dose my feet are driving me crazy within 24 hours.

Try using with Gabapentin. The mix works for me. I use 1800 mg Gabapentin and 60 mg Duloxetine.
