I've had pedal neuropathy for several months now. Doc can't say if it's caused by prediabetes or cancer med.
If you have had experience with this ailment what did doc do.
Thanks

I have the neuropathy from chemo. My feet sometimes feel like I have oatmeal in my shoes.
It was worse at the beginning, but got a little better after a couple of years, Four years later and it's not gone.
They can't do much for it, but I've noticed that more walking I do the more it helps reduce the numb/oatmeal feeling. If I quit walking for a few days, it comes back. There are days when I wouldn't dare walk out on a jetty, not enough tactile feedback from my feet.
Very annoying isn't it...

There are some supplements that can minimize neuropathy. I've taken Alpha Lipoic Acid with moderate success. If you go online you can find a slew of information about treating it with supplements and not using drugs. Good luck.

Gapapentin, by prescription, works for me—somewhat. Cannabis is recommended by some. A 12 year old single malt scotch—never mind.

Best of luck to you!
BTW, please check with the Doc before taking any supplements. They can interact with any meds you're taking.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is produced in the body naturally. Adding more through supplementing is usually not a problem. By all means check with a doctor.

Longfellow,
Thanks for your reply. Yes annoying. I’ve been taking Lupron (testosterone reducer) for prostate cancer. The main concern is not being able to walk and amputation.

Thanks again

Ollie boy,
Thanks for your reply. I also take that stuff. I’ll check with my doc to see if interacts with any of my other meds.

Thanks again

Thanks for your reply.
I also take Gabapentin with limited success. The 12 year old scotch ✅. My concern is mobility and possible amputation

Thanks again

I took Lupron for 4-6 months to keep the prostate cancer at bay while they did the chemo and surgery for the lung cancer; then prostate surgery. Hell of a year...
The chemo gave me my neuropathy in my feet, not the Lupron.
A friend of mine had to stop his chemo as he was starting to get the neuropathy in his hands as well as his feet.
Luckily my hands are okay. I guess my neuropathy isn't that bad as amputation was never brought up.

Longshadow,
Prostate and lung cancer in same year. What is the diagnosis of the prostate cancer. Are you still receiving treatment and if so what. I’m resigned to the fact that the treatment is worse than the symptoms and it’s something I will die with not from.
Hang in there. 🙏

Been four years now, three years no treatments, and the last CAT scan (March) looked good. The lung surgeon thinks he got it all (1/3 of my left lung) and my PSA is still in the basement. Memories of that year are subsiding.
Next up, I have the starts of COPD........

The treatment may be nasty, but if they catch it early enough, it's worth it. (I say now.)

I am diabetic and have on occasion experience a very sharp pain in my right foot similar to stepping on a large sharp nail with my bare foot. I have my diabetes under control now with my A1C at 6.3 and have not experience the pain in a long time.
