I recently posted on YouTube a short, basic video showing how to create a Shadow in PS Elements.
Hope it's helpful.

Excellent video. I'm not a PSE user. To answer your question about clicking on the LEFT side of the Resize Canvas window. Doing that LOCKS that side of the canvas so that there will be no canvas adjustment. You can click anywhere on that screen to LOCK that portion of the canvas. Click in the middle and the effect happens all around the canvas.

I was wondering about your shadow. Real world shadows seem to be darker closest to the item they are shadowing and then get lighter the further away they go. Could you have used a Gradient mask to achieve this?

Thanks Fstop12 for the helpful comments about the canvas 'resize'. That makes sense.
You're right about the shadow usually fading more with distance, and that's true but I was going by the existing shadows present in that particular shot which were pretty definite and hardly faded. Probably would have helped though to add a bit of gradual fade. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

My pleasure Pop Pop. if they help even one person than I'm content. I've been a part of a local Computer Club for almost 40 years and our Club Logo has been "Pass It On", which (in my opinion) is not a bad idea and not just for computer related things, eh?
Appreciate your comments, thank you.
