Scrolling through Netflix last night, I found "The Rental" - a new offering - so I watched it. The four main characters were the most stupid people on earth. Two brothers, a wife, and a girlfriend rent a house for the weekend. Almost all of their actions are things that normal people would never do. Naturally, their stupidity catches up with them. If you want to feel superior, watch this film.

The movie I began watching was "The Mist," a horror film with a good cast. A few minutes into it, I realized that I had seen it before. It's a typical horror film - worth watching if you like that kind of thing. The actions of the characters aren't quite believable, but it's entertaining.

Hi Jerryc41, My wife wanted to watch a movie she came across cuz it had George Clooney in it. The title of the movie; O Brother Where Art Thou. Zany but worth the watch.

IMO O Brother is a great movie. The music improved what I listen to, and I understand "The Odyssey" better than when I read a translation some years past. It is at times, zany, of course, but George Clooney, Tim Blake Nelson, and John Turturro make a watchable group, not to mention the supporting cast.
Another movie to watch, if it shows up, is Brian and Charles. I'll say no more.

That is why I stopped watching horror movies a very long time ago. It's not about feeling superior but maybe obsessive compulsive to be logical

Lately, when asked if i have allergies, i find myself answering "yes, -I'm allergic to stupid people" .

For some reason they seems to have greatly multiplied.
Could it be that many have lost common sense, or they are just being too selfish and please only themselves?

Nothing is worse than any movie (or TV series for that matter) where characters do actions, or make decisions, that nobody would really make. You realize it is done because that is the only way the movies premises can be made to work. Now even allowing for the fact that there are a significant number of thick people on the planet the decisions made are even ones they wouldn't make. So my wife and I stop watching and on the way to the delete button we make comments on just how seriously bad some writers are.
Equally as bad are those TV series where a mistake is made but the following week they do it all over again showing that the characters have demonstrated an inability to not learn from their mistakes.

Many years ago there was a movie called, “The Stupids,” about a family of four of that names living in a quiet suburban neighborhood. It’s worth watching for its story line.

Solution to stupid people is simple, remove warning label and let natural selection take over

Yes, that is one of the few movies I have watched more than once. Another repeater is U-571, #10 below. I love submarine movies - even as a kid. Remember "The Silent Service" on TV?

I was extremely disappointed with The Mist when I saw it.
It's so much different than the book which was a fantastic story.

I have no wish to watch stupid people in movies, there are enough of them in life. I've not seen most of the movies mentioned in this thread, but from the descriptions here, I do not want to. I have seen "Oh Brother, Wherefore Art Thou" with George Clooney and thought it a very stupid and uninteresting one.

On the other hand, my wife and I did watch a couple movies recently that we highly recommend, "Hustle" starring Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah, and also "Good Luck to You, Leo Grande: starring Emma Thompson and a new comer, Daryl McCormack. Both movies were well made, good acting and the story line was appropriate and believable in life. Check them out.

O brother where art thou was a great movie and a great soundtrack. The mist, written by Stephen King is a great story, the movie not so much. Stephen King has written some great short stories. If you like that sort of horror and also like short stories definitely read some of S King's work. Mrs. Todd's shortcut is one that I highly recommend

I'm constantly commenting on illogical actions or plot devices in movies or tv programs which has a tendency to drive my husband a bit crazy. Case in point - season 6 of Doc Martin shows Burt Large making whisky out of his beat up RV. Having been to several distilleries I know that the process involves grain that has to be germinated, roasted, made into mash, distilled, and the resulting alcohol has to be aged to make a drinkable product, none of which happens in Burt's still and his raw "whisky" is drunk with pleasure - totally unreal!!
