Advice for Spain trip including Barcelona & surrounding areas.
I am planning 2weeks trip to Spain 1week Barcelona * 1week for surrounding areas ie Majorca, Gibraltar and cross the sea northern Algeria. Any security concerns in taking group / individual trip or photo ? I am going to take Sony RX 10 IV. Thank you in advance. Shang.

There aren't any security concerns in Spain for either group or individual travel, other than the common-sense advice of watching your stuff in big cities like Barcelona and other touristy places. I just spent two weeks in Spain in April--my youngest son lives there so I visit frequently (although this was the first time since the pandemic). I always take my Sony A7 III with several lenses and I have never had a problem. You should be fine with your Sony RX 10 IV. Don't worry and enjoy your trip.
Be aware that Barcelona is known for pickpocketing. It is the only place in 50 years of travel that I was a victim.

Ditto. I had a failed attempt in the Barcelona underground. The rest of Spain seems free of the problem.

Consider visiting the island of Minorca while you are there, easy to drive and full of history and beauty to explore at a very pleasing pace. Have a great trip.

The Montserrat Monastery near Barcelona is beautiful. Wonderful mountain scenery and a beautiful cathedral. Check it out on the WWW. Tours out of Barcelona are easy.

No issues with photography. We were in Spain and North Africa a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. However one day we were out on the street in Barcelona and a couple of pick pockets were able to unzip my wife’s small backpack. We were lucky as a dinner at an open air restaurant saw what was happening and shouted to us. The two girl pick pockets ran off. We were very lucky. These two were professionals as we didn’t know a thing was happening. I have traveled all over the world and this was a first. So go have a great time but be very very careful. By the way Barcelona is wonderful to visit with the cathedral and other buildings by ????? (Brain fog). And then north of Barcelona is the museum of Salvador Dali. And his home by the coast. Don’t miss it. We stayed at a small coastal village near Dali’s home. What a wonderful time we had.
We just returned from a 7 day visit to Barcelona and love every minute. The City is charming, even awesome and the attractions bountiful. The trip to three countries I hardly recommend. We booked through Viator, but the tour company is a local business.
The Original Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra, Spain from Barcelona
On security the only caution, we received was not to leave ones luggage unattended. We are older than Mature, but felt very welcomed and comfortable as we walked the streets. Go enjoy and it will exceed your expectations.

Yes, me too. I knew it was a problem so I kept most of my money under my shirt, and a small bill in my pocket. Sure enough I was photographing a street performer, and three young gypsies surrounded me and before I could protect my pocket, the small note was gone. They are so fast and so well organized that you cannot protect yourself, unless you have hidden pockets or a money belt!

In Barcelona, beware of groups of males. They tried to mug me while accessing the Metro rail system.Luckily I was able to firmly plant my foot it hurts a man most and escape.
I was told when I went to Spain To use a camera strap with a cable in it as the cut and run with good cameras. Never had a problem but can but the strap from B&H for about $25.00.
The Spanish are easy to get along with. Barcelona is great. Enjoy Majorca--it is where Junipero Serra was born. Read the article about him in Wikipedia before you go and you'll understand why he was made a saint for what he did for the people of California and how he suffered. Find tour guides that will show you stuff that you wouldn't know about.
Watch for weather; it can be viciously hot; there is AC but sun very strong. Take Covid tests and try to get Paxlovid do not know if available there
It is a marvelous country, try to read ahead some of its History
