Probably the only place in country with a Canon R3 body is Dodd Camera online. I was told by B&H it could be 6 months till they become available, and low and behold I found one at Dodd!!!
I have sold all my EF bodies and most lens and presently have an R6, but needed another body. This should hold me for many moons!!!

Why didn't you wait for the R1? I am waiting because I think it is going to be better than the R3 by a long shot. The R3 is for sports. The R1 will be what Canon said. Jack of all trades, master of everything.

You can take for more images with a camera you have in hand than one not even announced .... You can also turn a $6000 camera back into cash, if / when needed.

But if you already own a camera like the R6 and can"take more images with a camera you have", you don't HAVE to have a new camera. You have the luxury of waiting for the new one. If you are one of the sports shooters that shoots only jpg and not raw and needs smaller files because the images are uploaded directly though your cameras ethernet to the editors at the field, the R3 is for you. If not, it might be worth waiting to see what the master of all is about. Turning a very specialized piece of gear that is mostly for sport and lower resolution might be difficult when a camera like the R1 comes out. Unless it is not competitive with the A1 or Z9.

Interesting the depth of understanding you have of other people's money ...

And you are so quick to urge him on without understanding the persons need, then reassures he can get his money back.

But what I said was true. He already has an R6. Which gives you a luxury to make better decisions. But the decision is made. Only the question remains.

I was in B & H a few hours ago. I passed by the Canon counter and couldn’t resist. I fell in love with the R3. But I am happy with my 5D Mark IV. Should I buy this beast of a camera? I’m going to hold off and save my money until I can walk in and walk out with this camera. Right now, holding on doesn’t make much sense drooling over it

I have not waited because I do not know when the R1 will come out and what the exact specs will be. I shoot mostly wildlife photography and the R3 should be great for that. I also do not want a camera that a file much above the 24 MP that the R3 has.

That is reasonable. I have an R5 and have even shot crop mode to reduce file size using an apsc wide angle lens.
I was not so concerned with the resolution and would have bought an R6 but it has a plastic body and I wanted a metal one. But if I am going to pay $6k I will wait for the R1.

Changing systems can be very expensive when you consider lenses. I know people that use adapters but I just use the over engineered Canon EF to RF lenses with a couple of RF lenses. My EF lenses work better on a RF body.
