I took an early morning trip to Lowes with the camera and macro lens to walk around the flower aisles and these are a few of what I viewed through my lens.

The downside of going to Lowes to view the flowers is that I always end up buying something...and it's never flowers. It tells me something when they have a shopping cart with my name on it ready for me when I arrive.

Great set, and a great idea going there. I may have to try the same as well, thanks for the tip.

Good eye, Gary! Do you use a tripod?

Flowers are a favorite subject. As long as they are properly or creatively exposed, it's hard to make a bad photo of them.

Beauties, sippy. I do the same at my local nursery right down the road.

Warhorse, one of the advantages of going to a Lowes or Home Depot is that all of the potted flowers are on racks so I don't have to kneel or lay on the ground to get the shots that I want. Another tip is to know when they water them if you want to catch them with water droplets. When you know which compass direction the garden area faces, you can go there when it is in the shade or carry a small piece of cardboard to create your own.

UTMike, No, I do not. I have three of them and I only used one a time to two when I did a company employee photo shoot years ago. What comes in quite handy that you may want to try is a "Walking Stick" where you can slide your hand up and down like a cue stick to rest the camera on. It works much like a monopod without the hassle of having the camera attached. It comes in handy for me when I need to push some brush out of the way along with those pesky thorns that want to wrap around my legs. If you ski, an old ski pole would work well. Try it....you'll like it.

EJMcD, thanks for dropping by and I agree. I believe that flowers are nature's way of showing off her beauty. I know absolutely nothing about flowers other than they catch my eye and I enjoy seeing them.

Thanks, Kpmac. Once upon a time, we had a few of them nearby, however, with the advent of the Big Box Stores, they withered away.

Excellent set and great idea about going to Lowes. I went to a local arboretum yesterday and there wasn't much to shoot - Lowes would provide much more variety.
