Tamron SP 200-500mm F/5.6 Model 31A Telephoto Zoom Lens with Nikon AIS Mount can I use a spanner wrench and clean this my self? I can buy it used for just over $200.00 or not a good price or not recommened to fix my self?
" PLEASE NOTE: SOLD AS-IS because it has haze on the first element beneath the front element. The other elements are all fine. I don't have tools to open it up to clean it. I can't guarantee that it will clean right off, but it well may. It's just beyond my technical capacity to do this work.
No way I would even spend shipping on this lens. Your not remotely qualified to attempt this.

My son bought a lens with haze on the front element because he thought he could clean it. The haze turned out to be fungus, after he cleaned it he found the fungus had etched the glass. Never buy a lens with haze!
Another reason why I purchase from KEH on items listed as Excellent + or Like New.
The glass has always been clean.... Word.
Note: This may or may not be the case for any rating below this... caveat emptor
Here is KEH workflow for Lenses
Visually inspect the physical condition of the lens including grips, mount area, filter ring threads, hood locking tabs and more.
Thoroughly examine the glass from the front, rear and sides with a bright light, checking for any anomalies throughout the lens like haze, dust, fungus, scratches, cleaning marks or damage.
Mount the lens to a test camera body.
Rotate the focus, zoom and aperture rings through their full range for stiffness, loose areas, and roughness or grit.
Test autofocus accuracy both near and far if applicable, taking note of any squeaks or sounds.
Check aperture response at widest and smallest, taking note of any sticky apertures or oil spots.
Activate image stabilization if applicable to confirm proper engagement.
Test lens shutter speeds if applicable from 1 second to the fastest speed, making sure that the shutter opens smoothly and completely.
Test any buttons or switches on the lens including focus hold, depth of field preview or zoom locks.
Note any problems, damage, wear, loose or missing pieces and confirm grade before sending to the next step.
Only once did they miss Filter Thread damage...
And promptly refunded my purchase price and provided Free Return Shipping.

Absolutely correct. Every transaction I’ve had with KEH has been exemplary.
I’ve removed and cleaned the elements on the el-cheapo 500mm lens you see. They are a single piece of glass and easy to clean. I’d be more wary with better lenses having several groups with multiple pieces of glass.
I lucked out at Hospice Shop and bought a Minolta 100mm Macro for $10, obvious mold between the first elements. Spanner cost $20. The lenses cleaned up well and happy with the purchase. But, for $200 I would have walked away.
For $99

I've cleaned several old prime lenses and if it's only the front element it can be quite simple to do with the correct spanner wrench. Check to see if the element can be removed from the front of the lens. I would not attempt to clean any internal elements on a zoom lens as they can be very complicated.

Me also I have purchased from them several times and only once had an issue. They ask if I wanted a refund or them to repair the lens since they didn't have another. They repaired it and paid for shipping both ways. I'm still using it still happy.
A manual focus long zoom that weighs 6 lbs with haze? That’s a big no for me.
