I first got interested in photography in the mid 80's with a Canon AE1. I lost sight of it for a number of years, actually sold it to buy a broken down old car. Another story...LOL Anyway, years later my wife got me interested in photography again. I now have a Canon 7D and several lenses. I am very much a novice but find myself drawn to the unusual and b/w. I hope to learn much from all the experienced shutterbugs as well as through my own experimentation. Currently a member of The Shades Valley Camera Club as well as the Trussville Camera Club here in Alabama.

Will post some of my work as time goes on.

Be well,
John

Welcome to the UHH family. I began my journey into the wonderful world of SLR photography back in the late 1970's with the same camera, a Canon AE-1, then a Canon A-1, which was my main camera for several years. I ventured into Digital in 2001 with a Sony Mavica CD-300, and have been having fun without film ever since. I never did get the 7D but I do have the 7D mk II. I should get one for my collection. My current every day shooters are my Nikon D850, Canon 5D mk IV and 90D. Again, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time here...

I also started with the AE1 and two Lens (still have them and they work) as our family grew 2 boys I left it alone for many years. When my oldest starting having grandchildren I picked it up again. Now I own a Nikon D5500 with two lens 15-55mm and 55-300mm. I wanted to get better shots of birds in flight. The D5500 is slow only 5 frames a second. I had bought the Nikon 500mm pf so I needed a faster camera. I bought the D500. It will shot at 10-11 frames a second. I am very happy with that combo.

We were all novices at some point!

Or wait to get the film processed to see what you wound up getting, or not.

Welcome aboard John! I owned the AE1 program camera way back in my Navy days. (mid seventies). At 1/1000 of a second it would freeze the motion of helicopter blades bringing us replenishments. Only drawback was having to send the film back to the states to be developed and then sent back to me. (Weeks later).
