These female crossbills are hanging out in our subalpine fir. Crossbills have distinctive mandibles, crossed at the tips, which enable them to extract seeds from conifer cones and other fruits.

Nice capture. I always wondered why they call them Red Crossbills, in my experience most of them are yellow
