I thought this had been discussed but all of the topics when I do a search only show a lot of 2017 and before. I am getting ready to sell my kit because of some health issues I can no longer carry it with my physical limitations. I am looking at bridge cameras but it seems like many aren't sharp enough. I am looking at the Sony RX 10 IV now. I do some photos of birds and other animals, some sports and macro. I have an old Canon 77D that I have used for years as my macro camera so I will keep that with my macro lens. How have others that use this camera liked it.

I've had my RX10 IV since 2018, purchased for a Danube River Cruise. I sold all my Canon gear in 2020/21. I've been quite happy with the Sony. It's nice not to carry all the "gear".

I will make this very short.......I have been photographing for over 50 years now with some great cameras and lenses including the Canon 300 2.8. The RX10 produces images as good as or better - mostly BETTER - than anything I have ever shot with - it is incredibly amazing ! And, yes, this camera is almost 5 years old now ! (Sept. 2017) SEE K. Rockwell's review if you do not believe me. The RX10m4 could be considered "expensive" .....but, in reality it is the biggest BARGAIN in photo imaging. You will NEED Friedman's book to go along with the camera.

The Sony RX 10 v is probably the best bridge camera. I have the “Panasonic LUMIX fz2500" and I like it a lot.
It is about one half the money of the Sony. Go to a camera store and compare them. I did and bought the LUMIX.

While the RX10 is a great camera, it is quite large and heavy, among bridge cameras. It's about the same size as your 77D. Yes, for a camera with 600mm of reach, it's a lot less to lug around than a DSLR, which would have a huge lens at that focal length. Just be sure to handle one so you know what you're getting. There are much lighter/smaller bridge cameras (admittedly of lesser image quality) if that's really a major concern.

I have also purchased the Sony RX10M4. The reason I purchased mine because I was tired of changing lenses on my Sony a99ii camera along with having to carry two or more lenses with me for a photoshoot. This takes the place of a macro lens to a long lens all in one camera. No changing of lenses with the same settings of my lenses. The only drawback I have with this camera is that you have to purchase extra batteries. I got mine for B&H not the Sony batteries, but I purchased the Watson batteries. Seem to hold charge longer than the Sony batteries. This is the only thing I could find wrong with the camera.

When I have about 7k used worth of equipment to sell, it seems rather insignificantly priced.

I have and use the Sony Rx10iv, exclusively for hiking and biking when I can’t carry my FF equipment. It is a superb camera, and I have numerous shots I’m proud of from that camera. That being said, FF equipment is massively superior in many situations, and I have no intention of giving mine up as long as I can handle it!
If light weight and convenience is your top priority, stick with a late model cell phone camera! They too can produce superb images much of the time.

I have a Samsung S21 Ultra which is great for certain situations but I need something with a little more reach. Thanks

Let me add my voice to the RX10iv praise. However, be aware of the unfriendly menus.

I too have an RX10iv and it is now my only camera. (I don't count my cell phone.)The Sony is absolutely incredible. I have David White's book and it has helped a lot. I use a lightweight harness for it and find it easy to carry.

Possibly interested. Are the RX10 menus anything like my Rx100 vii? That was a shock to the old brain after years of Nikon!
