The Tern shots are great but I really love your chicken. She looks so lovely surrounded by all that green!

Thanx! That hen is a real character. She was coming up to me for help getting back in the chicken run. It had just stopped raining. She was soaked and dirty but determined to get up to me!

Great shots. Love the last one best. Don't be surprised if the hen loves you. Years ago, we had a goose that fell in love with my husband. He had to pick her up and pet her every time he went to the barn. He would pester him until he did. If I got too close to him at the barn, she bit my knees. I had a pet chicken I had to pick up and pet. Then she sat on my foot as I walked around feeding everything. Most animals love affection.

While at the feed store today that hen came up to the house. It rained so she made a nest and laid three eggs while waiting for me presumably.

Wow! You have a very valuable hen there. If a hen lays a double-yolker, it's a sign that she is being over fed, but in all my years with many species of chickens, I never heard of one laying more than one egg a day. Could it be that two other hens visited the same nest while you were gone? Just a thought.

Could be, or she visited a few times. Our first year layers lay two eggs most days their first season. No double yokes so far. We are inundated with eggs!
