Eagles, Orchard Oriole, some kind of sparrow, others

Did a little walking the last couple of days and was able to get a few decent pics. I came across a small puddle in the woods with a single juvenile mallard in it. He was busy eating and didn't seem to mind me being nearby (not to close using a 300 mm lens). I snapped a few pictures and when I viewed them on the PC I was amazed at how they came out, sunshine, a few rain drops and other clutter on the puddle. To me it looks like a real work of art, download it and take a look. I did not use any post processing except for the watermark. I really like it, I hope you do too! I also put up a picture of an unknown bird that landed in a tree fairly nearby but obscured to a degree, download it blow it up and see if you might be able to tell what it is. Thanks for viewing these Connecticut birds.....BadDog

I think it may be a Robin. It sort of looks like a Robins eye. The gray on the wing confuses me for a Robin

For some reason I just love this picture. The reflections on the water of the woods and new greenery give the picture something special.

Nice set! Without seeing the wings, I'd guess female house sparrow?

Great pics all! Thanks!

I say it is a Robin for sure...looks just like the ones I get out here in Oregon every day. Also looks too big for a sparrow...to me. I like to poke around in the bushes & trees too & see if I can find the mostly hidden birds like this.

At first, I thought you were talking about the sparrow that had a question mark but soon discovered what you were talking about with a second look. I agree that it's a robin and the explanation for the white might be found in this link? I've seen them nearly all white and with all sorts of splotchiness in between. Around this area of Pennsylvania, they're called Piebald Robins.

Thanks for viewing and taking time to reply to provide that link on Piebaldism. I knew about piebald deer, never thinking it could happen to birds too!
