I found it interesting that the Canon RP dominates both the the Sony a6100 and the a7IV.
Canon has the top 3 sellers including the RP and a 4th at #7.
Also interesting the Nikon Z50 barely makes it to #9.

But even more telling is that lower end cameras seem to be selling well in spite of cellphone competition.

Cameras are generally selling well now, if they are in inventory. The Nikon Z9 is rare, and the OM Digital Systems Olympus OM-1 is rare as well. Delivery times are in weeks or months.
All the doom and gloom of the recent years is a little out of place now. The market is stabilizing a bit. Right-sizing and product line streamlining were inevitable during the rise of the smartphone.
There is the camera market, the DSLR market and the mirrorless market. Then there is the "things that take great pictures" marlet. Does the Canon RP dominate that?
BnH sent me notice that the Canon 300 2.8 has been discontinued by Canon. I guess they are going to close out their ef lenses and focus on mirrorless. If you have some ef lenses on your bucket list its time to get them.

According to the report the popularity of the Canon RP is not universal but confined to Japan. Just a couple of years ago that honor was shared by Olympus, the OM-10 Mk II if I remember correctly.
iphones have taken a big share of the camera market. It is easy for me to understand since not only we all have our phones with us all the time but also they take beautiful pictures.
A camera is a tool and all of them right now are excellent due to the new technologies. Selecting one or the other is just a personal taste.

I would take more careful note if I lived in Japan and shot a format smaller than 4/3’s.
And Ford, chevy, VW etc. all out sell Ferrari year after year. That measure means little in terms of quality or features.

When Canon is the only camera company, I will be concerned because that means they will no longer innovate. Competition is the only way to get innovation.
