The Sam's Club credit card is giving a 10% discount if you use their card to charge your electric vehicle during the month of May. I wonder if I have time to order and buy an EV before the month ends. Probably not. Their everyday discount for charging is 5%, the same as at gas stations.

Nice that they are giving a discount, how long does it take to charge an EV? What are you doing while it charges? At Sam's I bet shopping, VBG, Good for Sam's!

That's a definite concern, unless you're charging at home. I've you're driving several thousand miles, you have to sit somewhere - eating? - while the car charges.

Range is also a problem if your on a trip, our Subaru's go at least 450 or 500 miles on one tank, 5 min to fill and on the way again.

Although we were just in the 80's yesterday, apparently the grid was being strained. People were asked to raise their thermostats and not to use dishwashers or washers or dryers before 8 p.m. So....in cases like this are charging stations shut down?

FWIW we seem to have the same issues here in NZ, "they" are hell bent on us all having electric cars, electric ferries, even electric aeroplanes!!! meanwhile we are having electricty cuts, shortages, low lake levels, and we've barely started on converting to electric transport. Last year we imported more coal for the power stations than (I forget) last 30 years or anytime in history, something like that, and last winter on the coldest day half the north island had a power cut due to insufficient generation. "They" want us to not only have the cake and eat it, but sell it off, put it in long term storage, and also take out the seeds from it and plant them! Good luck in the future.

Just got my PTO, Permission To Operate, from NGrid. No more electric bills and my EV will also be solar charged. If there’s enough production capacity I’ll ditch my oil boiler and install high efficiency reverse cycle heat pumps. No more dinossauros juice!

Yeah, it's getting serious. We have always had fights out west over water rights. St George is building at an incredible rate and everyone is wondering where the water is coming from.

Yay Subaru. We’re on our 4th looking into a 5th. On my trips to/from Florida in my 2018 Legacy, I get an average of 32 mpg. With the 18.5 gallon tank, I can, and have, gone well over 500 miles. Average trip to FL takes 2&1/2 tanks.

There is money to be made in the increase in electrical consumption so all we have to do is to "follow the money" and folks are quick to forget the law of conservation of energy is a physical law that states energy cannot be created or destroyed but may be changed from one form to another. As it is said, "There is no free lunch" and when it is believed to be free, there is always someone making money on it.

The real threat to life on earth is not how we will produce electricity. It is how we will provide enough fresh water for the needs of the planet (thirst, farming, plants and animals, sanitation, manufacturing, etc, etc). The wars that have been fought over the supply of crude will pale in comparison to those to come over fresh water.
