Try Surui, one of the better "values" in photography. Your rig is NOT very heavy, I constantly shoot using a monopod using a 1Dx mated with an EF 500mm lens. This combination has allowed me to shoot wildlife from the Appalachians to the Rockies with minimum efforts. 63 inch tripods are very cumbersome to be lugged into the field.

B&H has MeFoto tripods for under $100.00 as a nightly special. Check with them and see what you can find.

I have found tripods at thrift stores, yard sales, and my favorite estate sales. Sometimes auctions.

DelRae:

I have a vintage Velbon Tripod. It is a heavy duty aluminum tripod. I have it for sale for $50. I have attached a couple of pictures.

I am located in Allen, TX.

Check local Goodwill and other Thrift type stores. Here in Florida these type stores always have tripods, many light duty cheap ones but occasionally some good ones and the cost is very little usually.

I have tried lots of tripods over the years, and this is my choice. Sure, you can spend a lot of money, but rock solid is rock solid...no matter the price. I am 5'8" tall, and I very seldom use the center column.

Use mine all the time in or out of the studio. Love this one...and the price is very low...compared to the quality.

i have found excellent condition brand name tripods, cameras and lenses at Unclaimed Baggage stores
They are normally priced at least 50% less than Amazon.
Great thing is when you spot an item you can price compare instantly with your cellphone.

A word of caution about the Neewer branded products. Quality can be hit or miss. I personally had a very bad experience with a Neewer carbon fiber tripod and even worse experience with their “customer service” staff. As I understand it, Neewer is a marketing company that sources their products from various factories. I would be happy to be corrected, but I don’t believe that they actually make anything themselves. When the center column of my tripod started sticking and finally refused to budge, I was told that it was “within spec.” I’ve steered clear ever since.

My recommendation for your search is to be very clear on the capability of the tripod you need (the diameter of the legs is a general guideline for the stability with various loads), and keep an eBay search active for that specific type. You will eventually get a reasonable bargain. Since that Neewer fiasco, I have purchased four Gitzo tripods of various sizes on eBay for about 1/3 of list price.

Good luck!
