(Request Accepted) (Gratis: Two AI-S Series E Nikon Lenses) No Longer Available

Your cost for both ~ $25. Note: I ship insured by USPS Priority Mail.
Both lenses boxed together are approximately 4 lbs.

Each function as designed (see images below)

Note: The 70-210 f/4’s zoom ring isn’t perfectly snug like a “Mint” copy; (It will “creep" if pointed straight up or down but still very usable when horizontal). However its glass is very nice (no flaws, scratches, etc…) I’ve found it to be optimal at f/11 (see LensAlign images below)

The 75-150mm f/3.5 has several small air bubbles in the front optic *less than ~1% surface area
(Will not affect image quality) See images shot with it below.

These lenses are for someone looking to shoot manual focus with “Classic” lenses actually designed for manual focus. (Light weight with lovely Bokeh and color harmonies). Both are EZ to manually focus. Very compact and have a very long focus throw.

btw, this copy of the 75-150mm is an atypical “specimen” i.e. it doesn’t have a loose zoom ring (a real issue with older copies of this “Epic Optic”). It was built at very end of Nikon’s production run.
For an additional $5 I'll include a 52mm UV Filter (with case) which I always used on location with the 75-150mm.

How good is the 75-150? Nikon (and many others) considers it to be one of its finest designs!

I’ve used both lenses: The 70-210 primarily in the studio, the 75-150mm on location, neither are a problem for me. However the 70-210 is heavy (770 grams) verses (550 grams) for the 75-150.

For anyone interested I will provide a Link to an excellent On-Line guide on how to configure these AI-S lenses on your Nikon digital camera so they will embed Aperture and Focal Length ID within the image file.

Note: If more than one person is interested and would like to receive these I will select the UHH member with the most positive feedback. I have grown to trust & like UHH feedback function.

Images below of each of these lenses plus images captured with them.

What if you are only interested in one of the lenses? I will wait a few days see if another UHH member is interested in the other lens only. If so I'll ship them separate to each of you however the price of packing/shipping/insurance will be $20 for each lens. Sorry but time is money and I have a lot on my plate right now.

For payment of cover shipping/insurance etc I accept a Postal Money Order (they go for $1.45).
However if you have a sizable amount of Positive Feedback I may accept your personal check.

Please PM me if you are interested and/or have additional questions.
Thanks! Thomas

I would certainly be interested. I’ve been teaching one of my grandsons photography. I’ve been making him use an old vivitar 28mm manual lens on D50. I learned the hard way and I figured he can to.

Oh, I also teach him about carefully handling things such cameras, guns and power tools. So they wouldn’t be banged around.

Wow, I had the 70-210 40 yrs ago. Took it with me on horse camping trips in Colorado & Wyoming, occasionally using it with a 2x teleconverter for wildlife & scenic photos. Worked really well. Great lense.

I still use and love that same 70-210 mm for about 90% of all the shooting I do, I have used it on a D300,...D800E,...D7100,...and currently on my D810 with results that meet my expectations.
IMHO its an underestimated workhorse.
I've always enjoy shooting old glass and feel it's very quite adequate...I only shoot in manual,..the same as I did when I first began my affair with photography back in 1961.
I've never shot auto focus, I'd be lost if I even tried to,....I enjoy telling the camera what to do and not vica versa.....lol
Am slowing down a bit these days.
Attached a couple of images that we're done with this same 70-210 lens as examples.

I bought the 75-150 new back in '88, best mid-zoom ever! Now, my original is sticky, but works. Looks like you already have sufficient interest...

tcthome thank you for your very kind words...
What goes around comes around.
So many folks here on UHH have helped me immensely.

Just wanted to share some of my "duplicate" kit with others since health conditions have limited my abilities to shoot now. Pretty much confined to studio work at this juncture. Sad to have to turn away clients, but I refer them to other colleague in my marketplace.

AI and AI-S Nikon Glass works extremely well for static subject scenarios.

The only major difference between the "Budget" friend Series E glass and other Nikkors of this era is that they have painted aluminum tubes rather than enamel coated brass tubes. The glass if basically of the same high Nikon quality.

Cheers! Thomas

Totally agree whatdat... The AI-S E series 70-210mm f/4 is a fabulous lens. In fact it's optical design was used by Nikon for their "First" AF 70-210mm f/4 lens... Only difference is the AI-S has a clever macro mode with allows it to focus down to 2' at 70mm. Otherwise they are basically identical in performance...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this wonderful lens.

Cheers! Thomas

Wow Martys! Thank you so much for sharing your epic captures with the AI-S 70-210mm f/4 E-Series optic!

Simply fabulous visual statements both!
Yes it can definitely hold it's own against newer AF variants in nearly any paradigm that doesn't involve significant subject movement.

While newer digital cameras have advanced the ease of capturing challenging subjects however newer optics haven't really brought any dramatic improvements in IQ albeit VR has allowed many to leave their tripods in storage...

That said for shooting sports (or wildlife) VR is virtually useless (except for maybe "smoothing" pans). Sadly the latest PF glass seems to be a step backwards in IQ but you got to love the weight reduction it brings to the table for massive fast long telephoto lenses... (this is a crowd pleaser for those with "Deep Pockets")

Possibly the most noticeable advantage of AI and AI-S glass is they are "true focal lengths) at portraiture distances... My AF 70-200mm f/2.8G IF ED VR II is merely a 135mm when set to 200mm at portrait distance.

For me in a studio that can be a game changer...

Thanks again Martys for sharing your beautiful surreal imagery... deeply appreriated!
