So yesterday I was washing my car, and I got a phone call, after which I set my phone on the roof of the car and forgot about it. Wouldn't you know, minutes later I accidentally knocked the phone and it fell about 4 feet, bounced off the step of the ladder I was on, and continued it's inevitable straight into the bucket of water! With a heavy heart I retrieved my phone, (it was kinda expensive), and inspected it. To my delight, not a scratch on it, and after checking it out, (phone call, external speaker, memory card slot, S-pen and its port, screen, and most importantly, the camera), everything was still perfect! well it's now 24 hours later, and I've re-checked everything and it's still great in all respects. Out of curiosity, I looked up the specs for this phone and, (I had not realized when I bought it), it is rated for 30 minutes at 6 feet submerged! (it even says it is suitable for underwater photography), although I'm reluctant to try that. But still nice to know. Over the years I've owned many phones, and lost 3 due to water damage, first while washing dishes, (my fault), second "just before" using the toilet, (my fault again), both submerged for less than 2 seconds. And the third was during an argument with a dolphin at SeaWorld, (NOT my fault)! He wanted more of the little fish I'd been feeding him, and when I substituted the little cardboard tray containing the fish for my phone, to get some pics, I guess he was offended and decided to perform a spectacular backflip, completely soaking me with his tailfin! Anyway, both me and my phone got wet, I recovered, my phone never did. (always been grateful that I didn't have my dslr with me)! Anyway, long story short, I've had my share of water ruined phones in the past, and this one has definitely impressed me. After quite a fall and a bounce, and by the time I got off the ladder, it was under water for approximately 15-20 seconds, it still lives, and I'm very happy not to be "phone shopping" again! Oh, by the way, it's a Samsung galaxy note 10 plus, and I will not hesitate to purchase another updated version in the future, when I need to!
Ray.

Wow!! That was something!! I'm glad you did not lose that phone to the water. If my iPhone 6 ever gets wet, it's gone.

I hope your luck holds. My nearly new phone ended up under an icy waterfull (a small one, but still quite wet) for at least a minute before I could locate it. Everything seemed fine...for seven weeks. Then it began its slow belated spiral into death.

As I said in the thread about "tough camera" I said the smartphone are very tough. As you find out it can be in the water with no problem and I have dropped my phone 20ft and it didn't have a scratch.

I have a Google Pixel 6 something or another and, although I've yet to find out, it's rated for 30 minutes under water up to 5 feet, and for normal daily use it's considered waterproof. It's also in this neat case that bounces real nice and is supposed to float. I've seen it bounce more than once.

After losing two flip phones to drowning I finally obtained an "indestructible" flip phone the good news was it didn't drown when it fell out on my pocket into a pan of automotive coolant. However it did suffer a broken clock screen on the outside of the closed cover.
Enter the smart phone, when talking to the sales person I ask if the iPhone was waterproof, answer for a measly $200+ you can get an enclosure that is, No iPhone sale, a tech happened to over hear us and suggested the Kyocera Brigadier , that was half the price of iPhone, and a bit smaller to boot, I'm now on my second Kyocera due to the 4g/5g crap that is still not available in my area, they are water proof from submersion to 4 ft, for 30 mins.IF all port covers are properly closed. The screen is almost scratch proof, hummm this give me an Idea for the old phone Photos will be forth coming

I think they decided to make them somewhat waterproof because of all of the early deaths of smartphones from being dropped in the toilet .....

Water for more than 15 minutes wha I discover it in my bathing suit. What a dummy, but it happens

And luckily, you were by yourself when it went into the water. You would have been out of luck if two more people were with you! (2+4=6)
