Should I Shut Down my iMac?

The hubby and I are leaving for a 4 week trip to Europe. Is it a good idea to shut off power to my iMac while we are gone? Alternatively, would setting the sleep settings to a longer period be of any benefit?
I don’t have any specific reasons for doing either, just a gut feeling about giving it a rest.
I always have a full back up stored to an external drive which is stored in a waterproof/fireproof safe; along with my photo library stored in the cloud.
I use a late-2015 iMac.

This seems like a no-brainer to me. Why would you leave it on for a month drawing power if it's not going to be used. Is there some particular downside to powering it down? I'm a Windows rather than a Mac user, but if I'm going away for more than a couple of days I always shut down my computer.

Ditto.
In addition, due to the possibility of a break-in while you are gone, I would prevent the Mac to boot by using a password BEFORE it gives you a normal prompt.
I also remove the drive that has my sensible data and ask someone to keep it for me in a sealed package. (Same goes for jewelry and important records).
Sounds excessive? Not after you have been robbed. Ask my in-laws.

Thanks, all…I think I let those “second-guessing myself” questions blur my thinking.
I do put jewelry and important papers in the safe; and have the boot-up password set as an Administrator. Helpful reminders!

When we are traveling not only is our Mac Studio off, but the plug is pulled. That keeps it isolated from any strange electrical surges, etc. that may occur. Just a good preventative.
