Years ago I took a photo of a fawn looking back at me at as I took it's photo out my window. I have always like this photo but thought how much better it would look if I had a fire burning in the chimenea. I have had many fires in the chimenea over the years but the deer never returned to pose the same way for me.

As I also have photos of fires burning in the chimenea, why not use PhotoShop to move the fire where it was needed?

Is this allowed?

Of course it's allowed. And there's also no rule you had to mention it.

In realty (Heaven forbid that we use it) the exhaust of the fire would disturb the image of your very nice dear!
Poul.

Thank you for your approval. I had a feeling that I might have been cheating some how?

Are you asking if it's okay to "stage" your settings for wildlife images? Why not?

You are the Artist. The end result is up to you alone.

Some would probably think so. I think they just need to get over it. This isn't photojournalism or forensics... It's a simple nature photo! Some artistic license is reasonable.

You're the director, what ever you want to do with your image is your business.

Love the hummer! Tack sharp bird, but when the background went out of focus it gives a three dimensional effect that I really like. Very well done. By the way, the fire looked nice with the fawn.
