Not to be facetious, but is train-robbing still a punishable crime in Los Angeles?

A lot of things that people get away with are against the law.

Trains and big rig thefts are in high gear in Los Angeles. I work in the heart of this area. They are having big rigs taken off the streets and driven away as the drivers are at home or parked to eat. Dangerous deal with the big rigs. Amazon has recently purchased/leased at least half a dozen large warehouses in the same area as my office. We are seeing increased traffic and an increased number of sketchy folks driving by casing out buildings, vans and trucks. We are having the local law enforcement stage their cars in our cul de sac to keep an eye on things as they write their reports. Developed a good relationship with them. They know us, we know them. A good place to be.

We need Hank from CPD to clean up this mess. Find them and put them in the cage. We are too soft on crime!!

Probably not with the DA that Los Angeles has now.

There are people who want to recall and replace him and the LAPD, other city PDs in the county and the LASO people are said to be getting in on the movement.

The LA County Sheriff doesn't make a secret of his dislike for the DA.

This will probably end up in the Attic shortly.

Last night news said it was a misdemeanor, even with millions stolen or damaged.

I am in a mood.

1. Turn the problem over to the Dept of Fish and Game with an assist from Animal Control

2. Issue special hunting licenses with dispensation for discharge of firearms in city limits but with full responsibility for
collateral damage and being an idiot in general. Well, limit them to use of the animal control type tranquilizer dart
guns with a real gun for self defense if the perps start shooting back. Hell, you could even have them sworn in as deputies
and go through special training.

3. Make it open season 365 a year with no bag limit and Animal Control and the Department of Prisons operating buses, trucks
or ambulances to pick up the daily catch - collection runs to be made as often as needed 24/7

4. Start a fund with money from the shipping companies, railroad and insurance companies to pay bounties

5. Have a bugler blow the Hollywood "Charge" - it sounds better than the real bugle call and someone yell "GO!!!" at
the start of the first day-insure lots of video and news coverage by local & network news and repeat often.

6. Daily "scores" on the news as part of both the sports coverage and community news

7. Allow the perps to collect the bounty if they turn themselves in for rehab etc. (after a day or two of 1-5 this option should
become pretty popular)

Yes, I know, I am one really mean grumpy old demon who makes the Grinch look like a saint.

Local Sheriff in LA recently caught 4 gang members who killed an LA Policeman. Would'nt let the LA Da have the prisoners but turned them over to Federal jurisdiction. Local DA (Gascon) would probably have sent them home with no bail and if convicted they would probably only receive a light sentence.
Big problem in La right now.

One of many DA's across the country who received $$$ to get elected from groups run by George Soros and others like him. In some places they also have mayors and other officials who got help from the same groups. I read that Soros pulled the same kinds of things in some other countries to the point that several (including Russia) have outlawed campaign donations and activities by NGO's from other countries and have banned some of the organizations he funded. His currency trading has screwed up the economies of several countries also. And his home country of Hungary kicked a private university he finances out, it moved to Austria.
