Hi Hoggers!

I wish to report that Richard Webb (Hip Coyote), stepped up to the plate and offered to present his bookmaking experiences with our camera club, Park West CC (NYC), several weeks ago, see: www.parkwestcameraclub.org

Richard Webb, a world traveler and hobbyist and a camera club member himself of the Thousand Oaks Oaks CC, see: https://www.tophotogroup.org/ made his presentation to over 35 members of Park West Camera Club via the Zoom platform. Speaking to the group, after a few Powerpoint slides, Richard presented his bookmaking workflow.

He told us of his personal background and his desire to document his photo journeys with accompanying
family and fellow photographers. Richard explained why he used a particular publisher and spoke of its layout flexibility and additional features. Tips such as including an itinerary and maps as well as "postcard" images of the locations and signs with members of his party. He admits he's not necessarily doing "high art" photography but using his bookmaking to document, entertain and memorialize his travels. His books sometimes exceed 100 pages and he often gifted them. Richard also spoke of discounts to contain costs. A page of "thumbnail" images not used full-sized was also included at the end of the book. Briefly stopping along the way to answer questions and expound on various points, Richard succeeded to encourage many of our members to begin their own bookmaking. Ed Lee also distributed a 4-page History and Resource List to members via email and to post on the club website. The recorded Zoom presentation was also posted on youtube, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4SPqD_QBoQ

The next day, our club President wrote me: "Nice job last night with the workshop meeting. I thought it went well and the membership was interested, educated, and entertained."

I highly recommend Richard Webb (Hip Coyote) and his presentation. Thank you Richard and all those other Hoggers who responded to my solicitation.

Be well!

Ed Lee
