What is Nikon's warranty policy about using 3rd party batteries? Are you planning to buy a brand new D850? It likely comes with it's own OEM battery and charger. Or is Nikon gone totally cheapo with high prices.
No, will not splurge on a new one, just a "new to me" will do.

If you look at pictures, you will see that the electric contacts run in different directions! Not even close.
Thank You Orphoto! What an interesting tidbit!
Compatible Battery Packs
MB-D12 (D810A, D810, D800E, D800)
MB-D17 (D500)
MB-D18 (D850)
Mike got that from B&H
There's a risk of increased Moire in the cameras with no filters.
The D850 uses the MB-D18, so the grip from the D810 will not fit, but the battery trays are identical, so you can use them to quick change the batteries. FYI, I just got the D850 upgraded from the D810. I love it, there are times when I miss the flash, but the other features outway the flash.
NO! The batteries themselves will worl on any of those three cameras, however, the battery pack designs as well as the camera design does not allow for interchangeability.

Sorry but this doesn't belong here.

No worries.
If you think you are the first person to post something in the wrong place, think again.

The battery trays will work, I kept both mine from the MB-D12, and use them in my MB-D18.
