Hi all, I made a cross stitch picture for my nephew and will be adding a photo of him and his new bride. They got married in Disney World so the only photo I have to use is the one I attached with all the people in it.

I have tried to use the blur tool in PS to blur the people but since I am not very good with PS mine just looks nasty! I am hoping you guys could give me some idea's and pointers on how to edit this photo to make it look nice. Or is it a lost cause and I should just print it the way it is?

The photo will need to be no larger than 5x4 in size...I included the cross stitch that it will go into as well.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

It's an excellent photo - but not for what you want to use it for. I'm like you, not so good with ps. I use a couple of others but what you want to do is way beyond what those programs are capable. We have a couple of real pros with ps, so just be patient and things will come.

I feel so bad for Kara....she has wanted a church wedding with all the trimmings and has had it scheduled 3 different times but because of Covid it has gotten canceled each time...so they just eloped last year. Then she tried again to have the wedding party get together so that she could at least wear her dress and the party could get pictures done...but again...that has been postponed a few times as well this past year.

I have been messing with it and here is what I have come up with so far...I just don't know what if anything I can do about all the people in the background. I was able to adjust colors, adjust skin tone, whiten the teeth, cropped and fixed the darker marks around her eyes, brightened the couple up and darkened the background people.

Made a duplicate layer (Control J).Selected the subject. Masked the subject. Blurred the first layer which does not effect the top layer with the mask. Added a little drop of exposure and a bit of clarity. Also added some vignetting.

Hi Cindy,

I cropped your image, hope you don't mind, to accent the subjects and remove much of the people and things that detract. You still know the location by the castle in the background. I used Photoscape x pro to do the processing. I'm not a pro but just trying to help.

IMO you don't need to fret too much about the background. Their memories of this time will include the crowds and the bright lights and if you do too much to remove them you'll be diluting their memories of the event. In my edit I just used some brush work to back off the highlights, contrast and clarity in the parts of the background that needed subduing. I also used Denoise to soften as well. As you can see, I did nothing extreme. IMO it's just parts of the background that need subduing a little.

I also used some cloning to allow the crop that I wanted to give just the right amount of context - not too much, not too little. Kara's complexion needs better than I gave it here but we only have a small jpeg to work on and you seem to be on top of it yourself.
