Hi everyone , I have a d500 Nikon camera bought a few years ago with a few lenses, I would really love to master it. I am going to get a new computer mainly for photography - any suggestions welcome, also can anyone suggest a good processing easy to use program - not photoshop . Looking forward to being a member of this forum.

Welcome. The new M1 macs are good for photo processing. Lightroom seems pretty easy to use & a lot of features &, a lot of video tutorials. Although I haven't used them, (watched videos) Topaz Studio2 or Luminar if you're looking for something simpler or more automated.

First, make sure you’re computer savvy. Second, I would recommend Photoshop Elements for editing, about $70, no subscription, easy to learn.

Welcome to UHH, Sue. Looks like you have a good start. Without knowing your budget limitations, it is very difficult to recommend a computer. I personally lean towards a 27" iMac with 32G of RAM.

I have this camera plus the 200-500 lens and is the perfect combination for wildlife.

Check this guy very good and plenty tips for the D500. I followed him to help me master the D500. Welcome to the forum.

I suppose it depends on one's processing requirements for the computer.

Me, I just get one (Windows) with a bunch of memory and a large hard drive, of the shelf. (but not $200)
My two are about ten years old..... They work well for me.

But some here will have no problem spending your money for the super best stuff,
in their opinion, for their desires.

I don't get caught up with super neato, gee-whiz-bang stuff, or the need for speed,
and have been programming/working with computers since 1972.

Welcome.
Have D500, several lenses that cover my needs, a 2020 Mac Book Pro (pre M1) w/ 16 gigs and 21” external monitor, use PS Essentials and Nikon’s freeby processor. This does it for me.
Again, welcome and enjoy the ride.

Not sure how much photo editing you want to do but you can download NX Studio from the Nikon website and it's free. You can learn how to use it with youtube videos.

Welcome. Post and have fun. Lots of info here and on the web. I like On1 for processing my images. You might want to look at Steve Perry's ebooks and videos. He is a member here.

There is a good review of NX Studio here:

There must be some Nikon folks here who use this software.
