I've been thinking about using a temporary credit card number for subscriptions. Then they won't be able to surprise me a renew automatically. Have you had experience with them?

The more credit cards you have adversely affect your credit score. I have used a card for a subscription and after the account is established go into my account and underpayments uncheck automatic renewal. On the rare occasion, I have to contact customer service.
Remember those ancient things called Checkbook? I keep mine, almost exclusively for renewal of print-magazine subscriptions, so that they don't automatically renew without my permission (which happens should I pay with credit card). Hey, actually a use for those ancient things called checkbook?!!

I use the Virtual Number option for my CitiCard. The way it's set up now, you have to make sure to go back in and "deactivate" the number as soon as you know the charge has gone through. Otherwise, that virtual number will remain active - up to the daily limit you set - until your actual credit card is cancelled or the number changes.
I've tried it and they won't accept them for subscriptions! Somehow they know it's a temp number because I didn't tell them, they just say the number is no good.

That's too funny!!! They know they won't be able to renew automatically. I wonder if they can detect all the temp cards.

Ah, so if I have a Citi card, I can do that? Sounds good.

Yes, you can, Jerry. There may be other "brands" of CC's that have that option, but CitiCards is the only one I have any personal knowledge about. If you run into a problem, PM me & I'll walk you through it.
