Leaving the Light On

I'll have to leave the light on for UPS now. I got a delivery at 6:45 last night. Neither my dog nor I heard the truck. I didn't know about the delivery until I saw the email from UPS. I wonder if they carry flashlights. I hope he didn't leave the terminal at 7:00 AM.

Our regular postman comes by anywhere between 6 and 8 PM.
We leave the porch light on for him,
but he uses a head light for going house to house.

Is UPS using a driver and runner on the truck now? That helps speed things up

It's too dark to tell.

It's about time they started doing that. I'm expecting a delivery tonight.

Sure, we even got deliveries in the dark during the Summer. We have been surprised by deliveries many times by USPS, UPS, DHL, FEDEX.

I think those guys work long hours, especially during peak times like the Christmas holiday season. I’ve seen them in my neighborhood way after dark.

Curious? Why do you not have motion detect porch lights? Solves the lighting for deliveries and improves security.

I was thinking that, also. I have a solar motion light over my garage door. Didn't have to wire it, just install the light in a good position and install the solar panel where it will get sunlight most of the day. I also have a motion detector light at my front door that is hard wired to the house wiring. If somebody comes up my driveway the solar light comes on. If they continue to the front door the other light comes on to light their way.

Motion sensing lights don't do much good if the address is dark.

I've had deliveries at nearly 10:00 at night. Many times I get a delivery and don't know it until the next morning when I look out my front door.

Several recent deliveries have just been left on the ground beneath our mailbox and out of sight from the house with no notice that a delivery has been made. These have been Fedex and USPS while UPS usually comes to the door.

Good catch. Convinced me to disconnect my MS lights. Let them stumble around and trip over things in the dark.
On second thought maybe I better not disconnect them. If somebody does stumble around and trip over something in the dark they will probably sue me. If they can't see the address so be it.

We put reflective numbers on our mailbox post. Also keeps us from backing into the thing at night! Cheers to all and a safe Happy Thanksgiving. Above all else, continued Good Health and God's Blessings to all of you out there.

Yes they do. Every one I've ever seen uses IR to trigger it. If it doesn't work in the dark it's faulty!

UPS after dark is a given in our town!
