ENDED: Our daughter got into photography and purchased a Nikon 3500. We'd like to get her a telephoto zoom in the 70-200mm range.
Tokina, Tamron, Nikon all OK. Anyone have a nice one to sell?

Nikon DX AFP 70-300 VR will work. Ensure latest version of firmware.

Abt $200 refurb or new grey market.

I might sell mine as I also have the FX one and now have only Z cameras. Mine is grey market. Like new.

Stick with a Nikon 200 zoom for your D3500, don't buy off-brands, you wil be mixing apples and oranges and you may well end up with a lemon. You certainly don't want to start off with a potential problem so it is always better to match camerea brand with the same brand lens. MPB usually has a broad selection of used Nikon 200mm lens for sale. B&H and Adorama also sell used lens but their prices are generally much higher than MPB for the same item. For general information on a particular lens, in your regular search box type in "Nikon 200 mm lens reveiws" and a bunch of reviews on the various Nikon 200 mm lens will come up. Try the reviews of Ken Rockwell, he does not hesitate to knock a lens even if it is the Nikon lens he is reviewing. Make sure the lens has AF-S orP in the description as the D3500 does not have an AF motor built in and you will need to have a lens that does have an AF motor built in or you will have to manually focus, which is an art in itself, at all times. You will get a lot of good advice from UHH contributors so read them all and look for signs of a consensus on a given lens. My Nikon 200 mm zoom is the Nikon AF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 GED VR DX and it fulfills my needs perfectly.

That AF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 GED VR DX that Trapper uses is expensive but she would never have to change lenses for portraits or landscape. I gave each of our grandchildren a Nikon with that lens. What a great Christmas present that would be

I have an 18-200 f3.5-5.6 DX lens I'll part with for $350. Has a Lowepro case it is always been stored in. PM me if you are interested
