I agree! My current vehicle is a 2006 Dodge pickup. #1 on my list to the salesperson was manual transmission. I love my truck!!!

When I was 19, I purchased a brand new GMC pickup...with a three on the tree.
Everyone could pretty much drive a stick back then...
But my truck was finicky...if you did not slip it perfectly from 1st to 2nd...it would jam up every time.
I had it down pat after a bit.

So...

My dad had his caddy in the shop (of course), and he was late for a meeting. He walks past me and asks to borrow my truck...no problem...keys handed over. I was over being fed by Mom...so more reason to stay and fill up.
No more than three minutes later my dad comes into his house in a huff...
WTH is wrong with your truck? It's stuck down the road!!
I ran down there...lifted the hood...unlocked the linkage...ready to go again.
Dad was giving me guff as to why I would not have that repaired...!

I just said...imagine you were a thief.
He got it right away.

I had to drive him to the meeting...missed some Mom food...bummer.

I started learning to drive with a '54 Chevy Delray, 210 ci, three on the tree and a battery with a bad cell. Often had to coast start it but loved that car. Later in life had a '88 Yugo with four on the floor, and an engine displacement smaller than my current H-D motorcycle.

An 88 Yugo? Wow I am so sorry for you, you are indeed a brave man.😜

More proof that society is dumbing down. Look around and see mountains of evidence every day. Sad to see especially when these young pukes think they know everything.

No they don't.

When I was at Villanova about 50 years ago I worked part time for a short period of time at a car wash in the affluent Philly suburb of Bryn Mawr, PA. I got the job of driving the cars out of the car wash because I was the only one who could drive a manual transmission. You wouldn't believe what I got to drive...think Ferrari and Porsche, etc.

Same for me, but I love my slick 6 speed stick: 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback with 46K miles.
