I hiked into the Lassen National Forest late in the afternoon to a small lake to try out this newly purchased lens on a D7100. I was pleased with its optical performance in good daylight conditions. Don't ask me to repeat it in inclement weather though, because although sturdily built, it's not weather sealed. I'm looking forward to testing it out on evening urban architecture. My D7100 has limited ISO capability, but longer exposure time on a tripod should make up some ground.

Fine shots! If you are into going out with camera in inclement weather (I'm not!) B&H and others have very good lens and camera covers which will still let you shoot fairly comfortably.

Thanks for the advice, Quixdraw. I'll check out BH's stock. You have lots to share, always.

Glad you enjoyed the landscape shots. You're not too far from the Lassen area. The Caribou wilderness is incredibly beautiful with scattered little lakes. Hope you can make a trip there some day.

Thank you for your kind comments. I always appreciate feedback as a learning tool. Your comments affirm what I felt after shooting with the new lens for the very first time. I was struck by the image quality rendered by this rather inexpensive lens. It's definitely a keeper and will be a great tool to have with me when I want to travel lightly. Take care.

Thank you for your feedback. I had been researching a host of APS-C ultra wide angle lenses for my old, trusty D7100 and decided to get the latest model Tokina when BHPhoto put it on sale at an attractive price, not really knowing how the modestly priced lens would perform when tested in the field. I liked how the OOC images turned out, which meant very little post processing was needed. I'm looking forward to trying it out on other typical ultra wide lens uses. Please take care.
