"Foe" is a local way of pronouncing "for." I hope you're not making fun of us hill folks.

In case you didn't notice, I was replying to CHG_CANON who made what I considered a humorous reply. I was replying in kind, as indicated by the .

I really don't know you, so I have to rely on instinct. Sometimes, you put posts on here that seem to be quite informative, then, at times, you ruin your image (in my eyes!) when you make statements like you did in this post. I would think you would know that Canon and Nikon both produce outstanding gear. I find it distasteful for anyone to so blatantly put down Nikon and, in effect, Nikon users. I may not be the awesome photographer you are, and I surely am not the "all knowing, intelligent person" you like to portray. But, I would not put down any camera brand or any user of a camera brand as you have done repeatedly. I put very little faith in what you say anymore. Oh, and by the way, I started out my "hobby" of photography with Canon gear. I switched to Nikon, and never looked back, I am perfectly satisfied with Nikon, understanding that I will never reach your stature as a photographer. Have a good day, Sir.

CHG_CANON, as you may have guessed, is a Canon supporter, and his replies are often extremely supportive of that brand. He's not being mean or domineering. He just likes Canon, and he takes every opportunity to somewhat humorously promote their equipment. Those who always read his posts realize this and take those comments with a grain of salt.

I think we all know that it doesn't matter what brand of gear you use. I've been using Nikon since about 1970.

I watched another video from Tony Northrup last night, and he came down strong against gray market gear. He unknowingly bought a gray market lens, and he had trouble getting it repaired. He finally found a shop that cheated and fixed it for him. If you think your item will never need repair, you can save some money, but if it were me, I'd always worry about something going wrong with it.

Interesting, Tony N claims to be THE expert when it comes to all things Photography. There are several ways to tell if it is Gray Market gear. I am very surprised at Tony, maybe I will email him and help him out. What do you think? Should we at UHH help Tony out. Private email me your vote and I'll decide then.

Some time back I purchased a Nikon D610 body from the Roberts Camera used department. The camera was in great condition with about 29K shutter clicks, so I was happy. A bit later it occurred to me to check the serial number and found that it was a gray market body for Japanese distribution. But I am happy with it, since it has performed perfectly in the year or so that I have had it...

I had a similar experience years ago with a Nikon D300 purchased at KEH. I discovered, when the news of Nikon no longer repairing certain models from non-USA markets broke, that it has an Australian serial number. At the time of purchase the reparability thing was not yet an issue, so I can't fault KEH for a future Nikon policy change. The D300 continues to do its thing 100%.

I left it alone, but technically, second best is now Sony with Nikon falling to third ...

lol, lol, lol, And I guess that is why Associated Press in 2020, and other top media services since have moved from Canon to Sony gear for their worldwide staff photographers and videographers.

In the mirrorless world Sony still sells more, and sells more fullframe cameras than anyone (DSLR or mirrorless). And for good reasons. Check the numbers, just a fact. Not fake news.

Hey I was a pro Canon and Nikon user for 40 years (both brands) and won many Worldwide awards using both, and moved to Sony in 2017 and have never looked back.

But I guess CHG_Canon cant earn his name unless he always pushes Canon over the rest. lol

Every top camera brand has excellent gear now, and that includes Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus, Sony, Canon, Leica, Sigma. Those heavily invested in personal gear of a particular brand may not be able to afford to switch for better performance , but many pros like myself did and have no regrets.

There is nothing wrong with gray market gear. Many USA repair shops can service them. Mid West Camera is a good place to shart.

They can service them if they don't need parts from Nikon.

They have always had the parts for me and many many other folks. Mid West Camera repair is one of the biggest all camera brand repair shops in the world.

It's unfortunate that there are no real American camera manufacturers other than RED Digital Cinema. Of course, if you ever decide that you can do without one of your kidneys and decide to sell one of them you might be able to add a bit more of your fortune to it and buy an American-made RED camera and one lens.
