I heard a similar story about Napolean's Castle in France. There was a soldier standing on a small section of lawn beneath a window in what had been Josephine's bedroom. On questioning, it was discovered that Josephine had seen a beautiful spring flower there and asked that it not be disturbed or damaged. Apparently that became a tradition.
