These on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. More will follow. I thought these might be of interest, steam engines need to drink and "eat" to run. I was sitting several cars back from the engine because I wanted to be able to shoot the length of the train on curves. Side light - There is a keen photographer on the right front of the car behind the tender. He apparently had his camera in a back pack, so had to scramble. Some "Food" as an after thought, look at the size of those lumps of coal!

I like the way you framed the locomotive.
Those are some large lumps of coal.

Nice shots.

Soft coal--I always thought trains used hard coal.

Thanks! Coal was back at the railroad museum. There was also a little pile of small coal. No info on them, just a detail to add to the story.

Thanks! Don't know. Thinking about it, the coal looks like some we put in the stoves at a Wyoming Dude Ranch to keep the otherwise unheated cabins warm overnight. I believe you are right about the type.
