I decided to create a digital photo gallery using some of the waterfall images I took on a recent road trip. I downloaded a free template from Adobe Stock inside my Creative Cloud Subscription and then added my waterfall images.

1. open up the background Template Image.

2. Now let's select out the person and put him on his own layer. Go up to the top and choose " SELECT" > Select Subject. Once Photoshop puts the marching ants around the man do a CRTL J to put the selection on it's own layer.

3. Now we are going to place an image on the back wall. Go up to " FILE" > Place Embedded. When the Browse window opens up, locate the image you want to use and click "PLACE". The image will be placed into your image as a SMART OBJECT. Now you can resize the image and position it on the back wall of the Gallery

Then CLICK the check mark at the top to commit the image. If you need to resize that image, just click on the layer with the image in the layer's palette. Then CTRL T to bring up the bounding box and resize, move etc. and then click the checkmark to commit the change.

Now if you want to add a DROP SHADOW around your image go to bottom of the layers palette and CLICK on the FX icon. It will bring up a list of choices. Choose Drop Shadow. When the box opens you can create the shadow, size, opacity, angle etc. When you are finished, click the OK button. At this point the image you just brought in might be laying on top of the man.

Do this:
click on the gallery image to make the layer ACTIVE. Then Left CLICK and hold. While holding, drag the layer down under the man layer until you see blue lines show up, Then release you left mouse button. The back gallery image should now be behind the man.

Now you can continue "Place Embedding" your other images and position them on the walls. Placing them on the right side wall is a bit tricky. When you CTRL T on the image the bounding boxes will come up. If you then RIGHT CLICk another window will open up. Here you can use the SCALE, PERSPECTIVE, SKEW choices to get it on the wall so it looks right.

Good exercise in learning to use the different transformation tools.

Very well done. But you should have used yourself as the man in the middle of the gallery. Since they are your photos on display. You’re checking out everything before the gallery is open to the public.
