Can't Email Photos from LR5

All of a sudden I cannot email photos from Lightroom 5 using the Export for Email preset. I haven't changed any settings. The error message isn't very helpful. The email address is entered in LR and one I've always used. It's a gmail account and I am logged in to gmail. Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix this?

I have googled the issue, but haven't found a solution.

Thank you for any thoughts.

I have had this happen. It is probably not you, but a problem with your service provider. Give the provider some time to solve their problem.

The email function is a kludge at best. I simply export my images to a folder, then create the email and attach them. That works 100% of the time.

That's what I do also. The email function in LR died a long time ago.

"kludge" what a wonderful new word for me.
Now I have a word for a variety of processes that I currently use, hahaha.
Just saying "Kludge" makes me . . .

Years ago the email provides identified security holes in their systems for automated logon-ons, like the process used by LR. It's a wonder your LR5 process and your email provider lasted to September 2021. See the experiences of the members above.

You should create a LR5 Export 'User Preset' that automates and standardizes the creation of edited output digital image files for email. Standardize the pixel resolution and target folder, possibly renaming files, etc. Have an OS window open when the export is complete and just drag n drop the files directly into you email and send.

This post gives suggested pixel resolution as a start-point for your Export Preset.

Recommended resizing parameters for digital images

Thanks, Paul. I may try that, or else just use an existing one I have for exporting images that I post on UHH. I think I may have got pixel info from you when I created that preset. Hopefully the files aren't too large for email. I have created so few presets that each new one would be a challenge for me. Especially when it comes to sizing info.

UPDATE: I just exported an image using my existing "UHH" preset. Dragged it into a new email. Worked great. File size in this case was 2MB, which is fine. Thanks, Paul. I'll use this method from now on.

Thanks, everyone. It's good to know it's not me. I have periodically encountered problems emailing from LR (but different error messages than this one) and have been able to resolve them. But it certainly has been annoying. This time I couldn't resolve it. Cutting LR out of the emailing process really makes sense.

It could also have occurred because of an interruption of the internet connection at that very moment. Even a brief interruption of a second or two can result in failure. This happens to me now and then.

Nahh. If that were the case, then trying again later or the next day would work. It didn't. Kludge indeed.
