I've been missing a package (Rx) for a few days. It was "Out for Delivery" on Friday, yet it never arrived. An email said it was sent to a different, nearby post office. When I didn't arrive yesterday (also "Out for Delivery"), I went to the PO to enquire. "Well, I guess it hasn't gotten here from the other PO." Now it's Tuesday, and it isn't scheduled for delivery. I tried tracking it just now, but "This service is currently unavailable." I'm glad it's not food or a live animal.

The lady at the PO isn't very helpful, so I'll contact CVS Caremark and see if they can find it.

I feel your pain☹️
We have two post offices equally distant and generally avoid one like the plague. The staff at one is in knowledgeable, uncaring and inconsiderate. Their facility is a mess and I’m not sure where the cause and effect lie. The other location is a neat, well stocked place with a staff that is not just friendly but often takes the extra step in providing good service.

We have the same thing in my area (Deep South Texas) The clean one is always clean, the staff are always smiling and considerate. Before they had automatic doors installed I would see the staff helping people in wheel chairs into the building, sometimes even the Post Master. I think it's the trickle down theory, if the Post Master gives a rip and treats people kindly it just trickles down through the entire staff.

Good luck. I purchased a coin last year that took a month in the mail system from PA to UT. It got hung up for nearly all of that time in the PA post office. But hey, it finally arrived so no harm no foul.

I had a problem with a small package earlier this year that made it as far as a USPS distribution center where it sat for close to 2 months. Initially, my local postmaster was helpful, but when she couldn't locate it she basically gave up. The only explanation she gave me was that it was probably sitting in a truck somewhere.

I mailed a copy of an old Photoshop to someone out west, and it never got there. PO had no idea where it was.

I do have to say that things have gotten better since the beginning of the year. Since then, all packages have been delivered on time. Also, the people who work for USPS are hard working and I don't want any criticism I make to reflect on them. It's not their fault. My understanding is that the problems that I, and several others, experienced earlier this year resulted from cost-saving measures that were implemented by the Postmaster General.

We recently had our regular carrier retire. He was great and if something wouldn't fit in our large box he would drive it up to the house. The new person has started just leaving large packages on the ground beneath the mailbox and Fedex will just put packages on the ground at the base of a tree in our driveway.

My sister owns an egg ranch (chicken farm?). Gets her chicks by mail. Usually no problems. But sometimes the lost package is live animals - at least, it starts out that way.

I live in NW Pennsylvania and if I want to send a letter, card or a package across town, it is cheaper, faster and easier to deliver it myself in person. If I send it through USPS it goes to a town over 100 miles away in another state to be postmarked and sent back here for delivery after two or three days of inefficiency.

I sent an unused camera to a relative who lives in Knoxville, TN; I live in Cincinnati, OH. I tracked it through USPS tracking; 1st it went to Louisville, KY then To Memphis, TN, then onto Nashville, TN and finally to Knoxville. This took 11 business days. When I mailed it USPS told 3-4 days. Per haps this is why the USPS is always losing $$$?
