Very nice series Mike, reminds me of the Gers we stayed in Mongolia, only that his yurt appears to be more spacious and neater!

Thanks, Joe. I was just surprised at how much my wife enjoyed it.

I used to do a fair amount of camping combined with motorcycle trips but in the last forty, fifty years my idea of roughing it is no tv in the motel room

My wife got there without camping in the previous 50 years (LOL).

My wife is not a camper, but when she saw the location of the yurts that the Utah state parks have for rent near Dead Horse Point, she was sold. There is an extended wait time because there are very few yurts to rent.

Why do this? These yurts are in the middle of a dark sky area. At night there is no intrusive light. The stars usually are crystal clear. Our visit, however, was in the middle of the smoke. The Milky Way was large and overhead, but not as sharp as usual.

There is no water and your bring your own bedding. The rest rooms, with running water and flush toilets, were a short walk away.

The true test - she wants to go back.

My wife wanted to stay in a yurt a few years ago. I choose to be more comfortable with a/c and internet access at my age. When we were younger we camped out west in a pup tent and later in larger camping tents. I was a lot tougher back then. Nice set, Mike.

I forgot to mention that these yurts are air conditioned and heated. Unfortunately, there is no internet connection.

Wow! I would love to stay there. I don't think these were available when I was there in 2014.

Beautiful set. I can see why someone would want to go there and it would amaze me if they didn't want to go back.

Wonderful no Internet connection! Why do we need to be "connected" all the time? Give me a good book and booklight and I'm happy.

Well that's a nice way to camp! What is the price range for renting one of those and how long in advance to you have to reserve one?
