We have so many talented people here, that I'm sure this would be an easy job for someone. We need a lens chart.

Let's say I'm going on a cruise. What lens should I bring? What's the best lens for taking pictures of bugs? Jewelry? Stars? Cars? Pens? Shoes? Grandchildren? Parents? Portraits? You get the idea.

We get so many questions about what lens to use in specific situations that having a large - very large - chart listing lenses and uses would be a real benefit for our members.

No, I'm not being serious, still, the questions continue.

Probably a good thing we don’t buy cars the way we buy lenses. 😉😉

Sounds like my son, a sneaker addict, trying to decide between Jordans and LeBrons to wear to a *soccer* game.

Man, I'm glad that whole" sneaker" thing was after my time. If they fit, and they're comfortable, I wear them. The "old shoes" I'm wearing now for rough work must be over ten years old.

If you passed another photographer on the boat during your next cruise, what model will they need to be holding to impress you? There is the answer.

I've gotten to the point in my life where I can no longer be impressed. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Interesting.
I use a particular focal length for what I want to accomplish,
not based on the subject matter.

My rough work boots (steel toe) are probably 6 years old by now. Before I retired I would go through 2 pair a year. Usually got them at Sears. Didn't care what the brand was as long as they were comfortable.

I kept 5 or 6 pair of the boots. When I first bought them they were my dress shoes. When I wore out a pair on the farm, one of the dress pair became a farm pair and when I had time I would buy another pair for good. I cycled through 3 pair on the farm. That gave them 2 days to dry out before I wore them again.

I bought tractors to fill a particular need (kind of like how I buy lenses). The tractors were specialized. There were tractors for power use (plowing, disking, material handling), tractors for general use (mowing, moving equipment, harvesting) and narrow wheelbase tractors for getting between crops (seedbed prep, cultivating, harvesting) and one toy tractor to keep the customers' kids busy.

I am impressed when someone becomes the best they can be. There are “ordinary” people in this world that have talents that perhaps don’t even know what their talent can do for them & perhaps others, but pursue that talent to the best of their ability.

If you've reached this stage in life, then It doesn't matter i it is good or bad, it just IS or ISN'T!

I've ceased to care about stuff like that.
