Many of you saw my post in the thread labeled "Move over Ian, my clouds are movin' in", but for those of you who did not, I'd like to share my recent story.

I received a message from my daughter-in-law last night asking if I am very good at solving puzzles. I told her I'm pretty good so she asked me to join her on Yahoo Instant Messaging. She sent me the following picture. It took me about 2 seconds to realize what she was holding and why

This was her way of telling me she and my son are expecting! The real corker is, my daughter and her husband are also expecting and according to early Ultra Sounds the two new mommies should deliver within the same week!

My daughter Kayla lives in North Dakota and I was hoping to spend about a month with her as she is quite young (21) and will probably have to have her gall bladder out immediately after the baby is born.

Son Tim and Jenn live here in Michigan about an hour from me and I'm worried I will not be able to attend both births! Of course my daughter will need me a bit more, since Jenn's mom and grandma will probably be her right hand ladies, but gosh...this is gonna be tough!

The only saving grace I may find if I miss Jenn's birthing experience is I will be able to see them very often, living so near. I will probably only get to see Kayla's baby about every 4 to 6 months. I know it's all in God's hands, so I surely hope He is considerate of my wishes.

I will definitely be posting a lot of pictures in the future. I'm looking forward to doing Maternity and Newborn photo sessions, as well. Yay! I'm so excited!

Sorry about the yellow. This is the picture she sent me.

Let me show you some pictures of my grandchildren......I see this in your future. Let me tell ya, being a grandmother is SO COOL!!! I wouldn't trade the experience for anything else under the sun. And I, for one, will look forward to those pictures.

The most important thing is to prepare! You must exercise your index finger until you can actuate the shutter release at least a hundred times in succession with out pause! 'cause you are gonna take a lot of pictures!

Congrats!

Thanks, everyone. I am already Gramma to Damian who is 11 and Lydia who is 5, from my oldest son and daughter-in-law, but I wasn't as snap happy then. And I didn't know as much, nor have a pro camera. These poor babies will be sick of photography!

Congratulations! I am so excited for you. And how nice that the the each baby will have a cousin their own age. I am looking forward to baby pictures from you.
I like how your daughter-in-law told you she was expecting.
I feel your pain at being torn. My worst nightmare is that the daughter in Seattle and the daughter here in Michigan will decide to have babies at the same time. How would I ever choose. So far they have been kind and put at least 6 months between babies.
Start practicing by taking pregnancy pictures of the moms to be.

Is that you in the avatar? I know it sounds stupid to ask but you never know what people might use...see my swan. But, what I wanted to say was, you don't look old enough to be a mama let alone a gramma. Keep up the good work, whatever it might be.

Yes, Darlin' ... 'tis me. I am 51. Please sign up for disability, because I believe your eyesight is hindered. (I've mastered the shoot it in the bathroom with your phone cam/facebook and myspace pose quite well, don't you think? Lighting in my bathroom is AWESOME!)

My oldest son Ken is 30, married to Verity (Vee) 12.5 years and they have the two grand children I mentioned.

Next in line is Tim, 28. He and Jenn who is 27, have been married for 7 years, newly expecting as being the purpose of this post.

And finally is Kayla who will be 21 in December. She and Luke who is 23, have been married since July of 2010, and their gestation date is tentatively set for the same week as Tim and Jenn. Both about 6 weeks along, and best I can figure somewhere around a July 4th due date.

I asked my daughter in law Vee to please wait until I was 40 yrs. old before making me a gramma. My birthday is July 21, and Damie was born July 24. Now THAT is a good daughter in law!

The only bummer about the cousins same age is they live 1000 miles apart. And the North Dakota'uns would be CRAZY to move to Michigan, given ND is #1 in economy and jobs. Michigan...not good! Luke is from ND and works a full time job plus helps run the family farm of +5000 acres. He's not goin' no where! Kayla made a huge sacrifice moving there, away from friends and family, but love has a way of doing that. They met on a Christian Teen chat room in 2000 at ages 10 and 12, met in person May of 08 and were married July of 2010.

And speaking of Avatar's, I surely wish everyone could post an actual picture of themselves for their avatar. It's nice to see who we are talking to. I recently mistook a both gender name as the wrong gender. Not that it matters, but y'all know, talking to women and talking to men can sometimes carry two different tones and styles. I'd certainly not want to tease / chat with a male Jamie about giving birth and PMS mistakenly thinking he was a she! =)

What a great story. Finding a Christian husband is a huge blessing. I have two down and one to go.
Yep is sure is a bummer when your babies are spread out across the country, but N. Dakota is a nice place to visit and we can be glad that we live in the age of air travel and not stage coach. I always think about those pioneers that had sons and daughters move out west and never saw them again. At least we have computers and skipe. And I have used visiting them as an excuse to drive cross country a couple times now.

That would be fun, but I would have to keep going to Seattle. My youngest daughter and I did that in "09" We took hwy 2 all the way across to Glacier National Park, then the fastest way to Seattle from there. It was great.
This year my niece and I drove to Seattle via the Grand Canyon and Yosemite. Yes it was the long way. We picked up one daughter living in Kings Canyon and another that flew out to Fresno with her 14 month old then all met my husband in Seattle at the eldest daughters. What a hoot. All 5 of us and our luggage crammed into the car. I would do it all again in a heart beat.
Here are a few of the highlights in North Dakota :-D
