They look good, lots of reach for a lot less money than the EF L series but they seem to be "high noon in Death Valley" lenses as far as light needed goes.
I hope you understand the unintended consequences of shooting with lenses of those focal lengths.

rmalarz, You are accurate about understanding the "downside" of those lenses. The fact that they have no weather seals or come with a hood are also to be considered. For walking around, the lenses will the right choice for many shooters.
I have the 600 and 800 and love them both. They have limitations but produce great images.
I agree those shots are most beautiful and very sharp.

Can anyone compare photos comparing the Canon f:11 600 and 800 with 70-200 and 100-400 zoom lenses with extenders?
