Hi all!

This is my first hedgehog topic, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m a mostly retired musician: as music was my job, photograhy became my hobby. Then photoshop arrived.. wow epic collage fun.

This image started with a photo of one side and the corner of a building. I mirrored it, got it lined up, and then used Transform to change the geometry of the building some, to introduce the foreshortened look.

The metal frames around the windows in front of the “Leader’s" domicile are sort of real as I used the frames from the real photo but altered the arrangement some, removing a crossbar at about waist height at the same time.

Next I put a shot of one side of my basement in there: including the model. The mask just somehow made sense so there it is. Next, I added fake “window glass” in front of the room: the reflected trees help the illusion.. a very transparent layer.

I followed up with some effects over the entire composite. I find having some processing over everything in a composite somehow glues stuff together :-)

Ok, that’s it! I’d love to hear comments of course. I’m not sure if anybody cares about how a composite is made, but for any interested parties I thought I’d rattle off the whole event. Fun stuff in my world :-)

Thank you!! It is only 1920 pixels wide.. the original is 10,000. What size images seem the norm here?

Looks great on my computer.

It depends...

Some people like to use the ≈20Gb limit, maybe so pixel peepers can blow it up, other people simply send a size that looks good on a computer screen. Clicking "Store Original" when uploading an image will, in fact, store the original attached image. Otherwise only a thumbnail image is created (no "Download" option.)

Many are concerned with their images being absconded from the net, especially if they are large really nice images. So they'll reduce the size before posting in an attempt to deter people from doing so.

I myself typically don't zoom in on images. I look at them as they are presented.
You'll see the term DDL or Double DownLoad, which refers to viewing the downloadable file, then clicking the "zoom in" function (magnifying glass). But it's not really a double download as one is simply having the browser magnify what has already been downloaded to the browser cache.

Your choice.
(Pixel peepers will say POST LARGE!)

Wow thank you for all that information!! I will have a better idea for my next post. Glad you like the image. I too had second thoughts about posting a full size image...

Thanks for your uploading advice! I will try an upload of a 4444 pixel wide version, with "store original" checked.
