If you want JPEGs processed in the camera, treat them like slides. If you absolutely will post-process raw files into finished TIFF or JPEG images, then you can push the exposure farther to the right, anywhere from 2/3 stop to almost two stops, depending on the camera. You must run tests under different conditions to know what your camera can do.

Thanks for the information Bill.

We should also add that 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 are irreversible operations which means you can’t go back should you not like the result.

However, modern cameras do and excellent job if you are not up to the task do it yourself processing. Raw is not a magic bullet. You may find that initially it is difficult to beat or even match the camera. But eventually persistence will pay off.

Thanks for yiour input!...Julian

I still miss the days I used a Contax G2 35mm film camera, with a Zeiss 20 mm lens, all over Australia. I used an Ektachrome film (ISO 50) that had superb color, much like Kodachrome in US. I was told by the film agent that you could not buy this film in the USA, but that might be wrong. Reds matched the Reds of the Australian "Red Center". Never was so happy with such a compact and advanced camera. Lens was simply superb. Still have it.
