I would like a recommendation for 3rd party ink supplier where the ink won't clog (particularly black) when printer isn't used for several weeks at a time. Printer being used is a Canon TS9000 series. Thanks

I use LD Products in both epson work center and Canon Pixma Pro-100. Had trouble with some others but never with LD.

I use Inkfarm.com for years in my Epson R1900. Infrequent printing - will sit for weeks at a time and no clogging. I believe secret is to keep the printer powered on.

Me too. Just clean the print head every other month

Third party ink is something to be avoided. I, personally, witnessed the demise of a printer that cost almost $1000 to repair. The repair was necessitated by the, assumed, financial savings of using third party ink.

This was a large office printer that cost slightly over $2000. So, repair could be justified. Replace could not.

I don't think it's the ink at all, you could likely buy it from any reputable ink retailer and it should work fine. You have to be a little careful you don't spill ink everywhere. I now use an Epson ET-2750 and the ink is next to free, so not worth messing with.

Do you print photos with the ET-2750, and if so how would you compare the quality of the photo print to one from an ink-jet photo printer? Thanks in advance.

One more vote for LD. I have used them for years in Canons MX922, and now in a Pro 100. I print in random time frames. Sometimes a lot in a short period of time. Sometimes the printer sits for weeks without being used. Excellent customer service. One time had an issue with a cartridge not being recognized. It was replaced immediately. Never had a clogging problem. Also when I switched printers they would give me full credit for my old cartridges for new ones if they were less than a year old. Some people do report issues with 3rd Party ink suppliers and many of us have had excellent results. This topic has been covered many times. Maybe it's just dumb luck. But it's worth a try.

The epson 502 inks are available at costco for $49.99 but only online. At sam's club it is also $49.99 online or at the warehouse.

Just curious, what is the life of a photo printed using LD inks. Is there much fading over time compared to using Canon inks?

I WAS using Costco's refill station and refilled ink cartridges 4-5 times each before they wore out at $9-$11 each, but Costco's stopped refilling cartridges along with in warehouse photo printing. Sam's remanufactured ink cartridges worked very well also when you can get them. I am at the present using up HP new, old ink cartridges I keep in stock just in case as they are out of date now, but still work and also bought HP new, out of date cartridges on eBay, the low capacity ones cheap and wish I had bought more as I bet it was HP selling out of date low end cartridges as they worked GREAT and sold hundreds of them from one listing.

I'd recommend using your printer at least once a week just to keep any cartridge in working condition just by printing a test page with color on it also. I have gone off on trips and came back in 5-6 weeks later and it would take a 2nd page printing to get the printers working again as I use 2 printers in case one quits and take turns using them for printing shipping labels and a color packing slip. You also have to go into your HP printer web site to check in the box for your printer to NOT remember what cartridges it used so refilled cartridges would still work and it ain't easy to find that page as going onto the Internet to find it works. The Feds made HP do that by permitting using refilled cartridges, but HP does not make it easy to find your printer's web page.

Use to be you could buy an HP printer on sale for the cost of a 2 pack of ink cartridges, but HP greed has taken over as the printers cost TWICE and more what they use to along with the overpriced ink cartridges. Seems CEOs are not happy being mult-millionaires, they want to become billionaires at the expense of everyone else!!!

I tried it a few years ago and went back to the OEM. For one thing I didn’t get ink tank level read outs, they just wouldn’t come up.

No such animal. The only sure way to avoid clogs is to exercise the printer regularly, even with oem ink. I believe most Canon inkjets have a built in cleaning schedule which helps minimize clogs. I use Qimage software to schedule periodic purge prints to keep my Epson photo printer ready to print. I currently refill using Precision Colors ink. In the past I've used compatible cartridges from several suppliers (with high ratings on Amazon) without problems.

I suggest you check out YouTube videos by "JToolman" on printers. You can learn more than you want to know from Jose. He seems to be knowledgeable on all printers, ink suppliers, refilling and printer maintenance.

And, number 1, don't let it set for several weeks. Print a test page at least once a week, if nothing else.

The quality is a bit iffy imo, but my biggest complaint was getting my PC software to align with the printer software. I was using old PS app to print and a few other oldish programs and simple things, like paper size conflicts with the printer saying stuff like 'your paper doesn't match, continue or change'. This is lame, and I always made sure the papers would match.

There are a bunch of setting that gave me fits trying to get a good picture. ALL my other printers over the last 20-25 years printed just fine with no muss, no fuss. My only complaint with them was the cost of ink, and the tiny, expensive ink cartridge's. I bought this thing because of the cheap ink, and planned on printing a bunch of 8x10 throw-a-ways of my Granddaughter. I don't print many photo's and I wasn't too concerned about how great the quality was, since every printer I've owned printed just fine for me. Museum quality not necessary. I was ready to toss this thing out the window, and probably would have if I printed a lot of photo's. I will say that for a text printer, it's REALLY good, and you could print 1000's of pages on one cartridge pack. It also prints double sided, which is neat. You could also print a ton of photo's with the ink, and I did, mostly either tossed because of the horrible quality, or making test prints on regular paper trying to get the colors right. Never had to do this before. Then there is the ink clogging issue. Never had that issue before either. Nothing like making 5 or six test prints, getting it close enough, then printing on good paper and the red ink clogs.

I would highly recommend this one if you wanted a text printer so you didn't need to waste ink in your photo printer. I would not recommend it for photo printing due to it's rather cryptic interface and difficulty getting it to print decent photo's.

I'm just one guy though, I could have gotten a lemon, but knowing how to print, and familiarity with computers, printers and software has been flowing in my veins since around 1983, so I'm not exactly a newbee.

One additional thought. This is my first Epson printer, but I know Epson knows how to make a good printer, millions use and love them. There is NO excuse for them selling this thing like this. I am HIGHLY suspicious they do this on purpose so photographers don't use this cheap ink machine to print photo's, and the frequent clogs mean deep cleaning and tons of wasted ink. I could be all wet, but that is the feeling I get. It likely will be my first, and last Epson product.

I use LD Products Ink also, and I'm real happy with then.
I use them in a Canon P-100 which runs a head cleaning every so many hours.
Haven't had a problem yet. It's been about a year and 1/2 now.
