Thanks for the post Mark. I love her voice also. She was very nice lady. Old Prez wasn't bad himself. I really like listening to Jazz every once in a while. Thanks for the post. BE SAFE!

Billy Holiday is my all time favorite jazz/blues singer. Her voice is memorizing

Another Billy Holiday fan here. And I have to admit I was very impressed with Diana Ross’ portrayal of her tough life in Lady Sings the Blues.

It's difficult to find one better than Lady Day!

I agree with your comment about Diana Ross. Marvelous film. I listen to Billie frequently.

In that case, I would rather an actor/actress playing a singer with a very distinctive voice to lip-sync to the original recordings, like they did in Bohemian Rhapsody. One recent exception is the new Aretha Franklin biopic where Jennifer Hudson can pull off imitating Franklin's voice - Hudson was picked by Franklin to play her before she died.

I understand your preference. I viewed the movie multiple times. I enjoyed it. It provoked emotions that identified the tragic and dreadfully sad life Billie had.

I did not view it for Diana’s singing. I have tons of Billie’s recordings.

We each have our preferences.
Thanks for the reply.
