Do some of those same people feel pressure when being required to use seat belts, use turn signals to let the other drivers know what they are about to do, or get their vehicle inspected annually to make sure it’s safe? I believe on freedom as much as most others do; however I feel a responsibility when my actions may affect others. I wish there were a better way, but..

Rix, I cannot understand the resistance. Now, an entire family who are friends came down with bee stings because they adamantly refused the mask. Two puffed up so badly that they ended up in the hospital.

As the wise old bird used to say: First you must define the problem, only then can you work on the solution.

I don't want to argue or turn this into a right/wrong or right/left issue. It's far too important. As it is now both sides seem to be more intent proving themselves to be "right", "more important", "having the only solution", smarter, etc. Stir in a few insults and dismissive comments and it's all over.

We have the vaccines. We have fairly accurate (not perfect) information upon which we can make intelligent decisions. We have a delivery system. What we don't have is a reasonable method in place to convince the unvaccinated to change their minds. And that my friend is the problem!

We know that threats don't work, bribes don't work, lap dances don't work, lotteries don't work, anger doesn't
work, and insults will never work. Perhaps if we give equal credence to both sides of the issue WITHOUT emotional jargon, guilt or the "need to win" we might made some progress.

Yes, life would be easier if more people were vaccinated. Maybe the first step to getting there is to shut up and actually listen to those of a different mind set. Ask rather than telling. Explain rather than demanding. Never forget that the other guys opinion is just as important to him as yours is to you. Be willing to meet in the middle. Above all - validate, validate, validate.

Just a thought.......

I hate to say it, but I've heard them, and they just speak gibberish. Last night on the Nightly News it was reported that over 5,000 people who had received the vaccines had caught Covid and died. I'd heard that elsewhere but didn't believe it. Today I googled it. One report said over 5,000 had caught Covid and either died or been hospitalized. Then I found a more definitive report that said that 5000 had been hospitalized and 74 had died. So, somebody took that original report and twisted it to say that 5000 vaccinated people had died. That's how the unvaccinated come up with their misleading arguments and become entrenched in their position. They buy the twisted truth but don't take the time to question and google for the real truth. I have a cousin who's an anti-vaxxer. You wouldn't believe the conversations that go on among her group of anti-vaxxer friends.

I might be wrong but I think I read the source of the confusing information you encountered. It began with the CDC, the very people on which we must place our trust.

The point of my last post was to hope that someone out there might be interested in finding a solution to the issue of so many un-vaccinated but that won’t happen until we can break through the, “I’m right/you’re wrong” syndrome.] But hey….I tried

There is a resistance out there that I don't understand. One of my friends just went home today after going in to the hospital for Covid related pneumonia. When he gets better I'll ask him if he wishes he had taken the vaccine. His father spent two weeks in the hospital, some of it in ICU.

Because of health issues I got the vaccine as quickly as possible but one of my sons decided differently. He had the sniffles for two days and it turned out it was Covid. He decided to not get the vaccine. On the other, his wife also had Covid but got the vaccine because she travels a lot and wanted the card to make life easier. Their daughter was another story altogether.....she too had Covid and had to get the vaccine because she works in Health Care. She's young, strong, healthy and had no symptoms from the disease but had a reaction to the vaccine that kept her away from work for a longer period than the actual disease.

In my opinion it has to be a personal decision based on personal experience and needs. And we have to be willing to accept the consequence of that decision. Deciding is tough enough without having to stir in the needs of your neighbors.

Still- my overview is very shallow. We simply don't have enough information.

I have Chinese neighbors in their 70's. He got the vaccination. Their grown son got Covid and gave it to their daughter. Mom is telling me this from a safe 8 foot distance outdoors. And then she says she has decided not to get vaccinated!!!???!!!

Certainly not the decision I would make, but hey.....it's one of the consequences of living in a free country.

On the news yesterday was a mayor arguing against masks - when the interviewer stated that the science shows that masks help prevent COVID and influenza, his response was: "I don't think they work". Magical thinking. In many instances when fascist regimes take over - whether they are communist inspired or anti-communist inspired, they take a careful look at all the scientists, teachers, doctors, etc., and unless they have shown complete allegiance to the cause in the past, they are either murdered or sent to "re-education" camps. Yep - can't have those people who actually know things telling us what to do! I think of this when I hear Trumpist crowds chanting to lock up Fauci or some even demanding that he be executed. And Ron Desantis selling merchandise saying "Don't Fauci my Florida".
