West of the Old Town Hall we have a glance at the St Joseph's church dating back to 1482, and then enjoy the view of the beautiful building housing GDANSK GLOWNY, the main train station of the city.

GDANSK GLOWNY RAILWAY STATION - The first railway line in Gdansk opened in 1852. Around 1867, in the area of today's main railway station (Glowny) a small, temporary passenger terminal "Danzig Hohes Tor" (Gdansk High Gate) was built. Access to it was only from the west, from the so-called "Promenade", as to the east of the station stood the fortifications and moat of Gdansk. Once the old moat was filled and the western walls were demolished, the station could begin to expand eastwards. The existing station was built between 1894 and 1900 and officially opened in October 1900. In 1945 the station was set on fire and was restored after WW II. The tower escaped the fire.

Another great set Joe. I like the interior and exterior shots of St. Josephs Church, very impressive showing the detail, especially the stained glass. The shots of the railway station main tower and the Central hotel are equally impressive as well.

If the Railroad Station could talk I wonder how much pain it would tell the people suffered there in the hands of the Germans or Russians?

Thank you bnsf for looking in on the tour again. Indeed, this station and many of the other buildings in town would have plenty of tales to relate.
