Interesting what lenses were used.
Not a Nikon or Sony lens in sight.
Even Sigma was represented at Cannes.
More Canon were used than Arri and Leica lenses.

Maybe there were many more Canon lenses purchased that Arri & Leica lenses?

Never heard of Arri, so I'm guessing that person kept his two lenses.

And that means what?
Does that mean that Canon makes the best lenses in the whole world?
Does that mean that Canon gives the biggest rebates to pro photographers?
Does that mean that Canon loans out the most lenses for special events?
It’s meaningless.

So many variables.

The lenses are chosen by the film makers and not given out.
Generally they are rented from lens suppliers and not purchased thus the giving them out falls flat.
Just found it interesting the total lack of Sony and Nikon lenses being used for films.
It means that Canon and other lenses are far more respected for valuable films and are trusted to give maximum performance.

I don't know about movie makers at festivals but, I'd be willing to bet that in places where they make professional commercial movies, places like Hollywood and Vancouver, there are a whole lot of Sony lenses used simply because Sony Pictures Entertainment Group is the second largest maker of commercial movies and TV shows.

Do Nikon even make video lenses? Nikon bodies are not known as good video cameras due to their inferior focusing in video mode.

There's a difference between video lenses and cinema or Cine lenses and many Cine lenses are made for use on several different manufacturers cameras. Yes, Nikon makes Cine-Nikkor lenses, although Canon and Sony make a larger variety of Cine lenses. It is not uncommon to see Canon Cine lenses on Sony Cine cameras

And your point is?

Neither Nikon nor Sony make professional cine lenses. Cooke is the major manufacturer of cine lenses, but you won't find a modern Cooke for still photography. Angenieux also left the still market decades ago, and are in wider use than Canon in cine.

Sony was listed as being used.

Sony makes a very limited number of cine lenses. Canon is much bigger in that field. Cooke, Angenieux and Zeiss are the big players, along with Canon. So what? What is your point?

Olympus is big in medical imaging, Canon not. Different companies produce different products in different fields. Are you so insecure that you need Canon to be number one in everything? Cooke is a far bigger player in cine lenses than Canon, in any case.
