June 10th partial eclipse of the sun at dawn in New York City.
I was surrounded by other photographers, a few with serious equipment on tripods, 4 or 5 with regular cameras, and most with their cellphones.
I used a Sony RX100vi because it has the longest lens I own.
The first image was taken at full telephoto, the second wide-angle. The crescent shape is less discernible in the wide-angle, but use the download.
Being the nice person that I am, I showed one of the cell phone users a couple of my images. “I’m not getting anything like that! How did you do that?“
I replied “1/2000 of a second, f/11, ISO 80.
Does anyone have any idea how good that felt?
Beautiful set, but you will have to do time in purgatory for your treatment of the cellphone guy (LOL).

Will I see you there?
Just an addendum: I really don’t mind them, except when they stick their phones up right in front of my lens while I’m working a scene. I use my cell phone camera at times if conditions allow a decent result.
I have a T-shirt that says “everyone is a photographer until…there’s an image of a camera set on manual.

I don’t remember, and there’s no label on the shirt. Possibly a pop-up ad more than a year ago.
